Moki: I agree with most of your post, however, I just wanted to say something about metallic dyes. Metallic dyes are VERY hard to get and are pretty rare nowadays. I think what the vendors/hair sellers are using is fabric dye. A lot of hairstylists (professionals) talk about metallics referring to drugstore colour --- this is a myth! The only one I think that is readily available in stores now is colour for men...ummm....'Just for Men' I think it's called. it gradually darkens the hair.
IT DEPENDS ON THE QUALITY OF THE EXTENSION HAIR. I WOULDN'T CHANCE IT. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT EXTENSION HAIR WILL DO, unless it's virgin hair. Years ago I tried to highlight some extensions to match the clients hair....but, the color wouldn't budge. The hair turned to mush before it would turn blond. I noticed this would happen especially if it has been pre-colored with a permanent metalic dye. Definately, not one of my better days in the salon.
Hey Mint! You CAN definitely lowlight or highlight with extensions/weave in. But, you have to be very careful to rinse well after processing so nothing gets stuck in your braided hair (if you do have braided tracks). Of course, it's idea if you can do colouring BEFORE you add the sew-in. Remember you can always do highlights/lowlights WITH extensions to save your hair from processing as well. Let us know how it works out.
Love clip-ins and tape!

I leave the underneath of my hair natural and just get partial highlights. I bought a bohyme weft that matches my natural and I really need some more dark chunks put in my real hair, in order for it to blend well. Should I get lowlights after I get tracks sewn in? OR should I just sew it in and get lowlights in my natural hair and maybe a few highlights in the wefted hair so they will blend perfectly.
Can I highlight after the hair is sewn in? Can you do an all over color with a weave in?
This is my first sew in so I appreciate any guidance :)
