From what I've read, I'd say definitely go with good quality (I personally love Biolage but ask your stylist for his/her recommendation) mosturizing shampoo&conditioner, deep condition 1x/week, and definitely buy a loop brush which is the only kind you can use to comb at your roots and through the extensions.
Definitely keep heat styling to a low, and when you do make sure it doesn't touch the extensions. This goes ESPECIALLY if you are getting hot fusion (as opposed to cold fusion)

Well that's all I can think of for now. I'm sure the stylist will tell you more details.

When I had fusion, the bonds lasted for a long time, but you definitely wouldn't want to leave them in longer than 12 weeks.

Also, you may need to remove them more frequently if the bonds become visible (depends on color, length, texture, etc.). I always had that problem.

So Cap hair  can be reused and I reuse it all the time with the So Cap Rebond chips.  I am certified by So Cap USA.

So Cap is a very durable bond and it can easily last 12-16 weeks, although I recommend taking them all out and starting fresh at the scalp every 10-12 weeks.

That depends on the type of hair extensions, which basically has already been said.
If you get the microlinks/eurolocs/microrings,etc. (COLD fusion, usually) put in- the kind that doesn't use glue, but has the little metal thing put in with a clamp, it can usually be re used a few times and you'd go inf or maintenance I'd say every month or two, depending on the stylist, to put them up. The problem with that and why it may not always work out that way is that since you lose hair everyday, there will be less hair that the extension is attached to over some time , so eventually (maybe sooner than later) it'll just have to be completely re done.

Another type of "cold fusion" is great lengths and so.cap. To the best of my knowledge, great lengths can't be re used, hot or cold, but don't quote me on that. However, I know for a fact that so.cap has to be re put in after a few months, though I know you can get touch ups for them a few times. But the hair for it can't be re used.

Make SURE that you find this out, make it one of the first questions you ask potential hair stylists, as it has a lot to do with how much you're going to pay if you plan to keep them in for awhile. Ask if the hair is reusable, how often you need to go in for touch ups (and how much that is), and when it will need to be replaced.

Most people who use fusion go back for maintenance every 4 to 6 weeks. At that time the pieces that have slid down are removed and reinstalled. Some people take them out and start over every 3 months or so, but some don't. I would take them out every 3 months to be able to see how my natural hair is doing.

Completly depends on the company or extensionist.
I would remove them every 3 months completely however maintainance isnt a requirement but recommended for the upkeep but also to monitor the bonds and wear.

Fusion with the adhesive cannot be moved up. They will have to be removed and re applied. The microrings can be moved up, but that depends on how much your hair grows out. Your regular routine with your hair and extensions change, so the length of time you wear any type of hair extensions depends on how well you and your stylist maintain them.

Hi,
I am thinking of getting fusion hair extension but was wondering what the maintenance is for them.  Will every couple of months I have to get them taken out and put back in again or is there a way to "move" them as the hair grows out...what can I expect when I go for my consultation?
