Love this board too! I agree with the previous comments; both have their advantages. I do a mix of both, actually. I do a long ear-to-ear double (sewed) weft, then shorter pieces that eventually lead to my skin wefts on top. Here's the thing: I find the long pieces very secure to wear! They just feel so sturdy and don't shift. The shorter pieces go in much easier and are easier to remove, in my opinion. The long piece, when it comes to removal, is a b*tch to clean. Maybe it's the way I do it, but I find that by the time I get the long piece out, one side is sticking to my hand, hair or whatever! I find it difficult to keep the hair (on the weft) from sticking to the tape; I'm going to work on this though because it seems like a problem that has just developed.

I personally do small rows for the sides (3 on one side and 5 on the other side), they are between 2 and 4 inches long.
Then my back rows measure between 6 and 8 inches long.
The advantage of doing smaller rows for the side/longer rows for the back is that it is easier to apply.
I also like to have some volume on the side and the standard handtied bohyme wefts would be a tiny bit too short to do a row from one side of my head to the other.
I also like to do a slightly different mix of colors for the side pieces, they are usually a tiny bit lighter than my back rows.
The good points of doing long rows that go from one side to the other is that it means less risks of lifting like Sherrie mentioned (although personally I don't have issues with lifting really with LG) and I am thinking it must be also quicker to get your pieces/install ready when you're about to do an install. It must also be less time-consuming during take-down and cleaning. Less pieces probably means less work. I have been tempted to do full rows myself, but I guess I am just so used to do side pieces, they are really convenient!

I think alot of DIYers find it easier to do smaller pieces. And either one will work fine. I personally prefer to use one long piece per row. And as you mentioned less ends to possibly lift.
