Hi Kezzi,

I had the very same client only yesterday, and of course you want  minimal damage to the hair as possible. I done a full head of foils using 40 vol on the middle lengths and ends to remove the tint level 5 , I applied the 20 vol to the roots in the same foil, came out good, I then toned down any brassy tones, client was happy.

Hope this helped a little, good luck, Karen.

couldn't you just use 20v and watch it closely? or
like, do a test strand to see how long it takes to match the 40v strands
then once the 40v strands only have x minutes left, put the 20v on.

just wanting a little advice i have a few clients who wanted to have there hair a level 5 for a while, now they have decided they wanted to go back to blonde!. so  i have been putting the usual 40vol and bleach on in highlights and doing it in stages but im struggling what to put on their natural regrowth as i cant put the 40vol bleach on as there natural shade is a lot lighter and there would be a difference in colour?????????????????????
