No your going dark! Haha, I never thought I'd see the day. I love Ashlee simpsons red hair, I just love love love it and I don't like red hair very much.
I dyed my platinum dark too, I went more near my natural color and because it was so light I too have to dye quite often and I'm using no-ammonia color (cause I'm pregant) and have to usually dye it every month to two months to keep the color from fading to a light brown/dark blonde.
I don't know how you'll go about it, but I think the ashlee simpson red is totally awesome! Good luck with your color and Ic an't wait to see it!!!

Thanks for your words of wisdom, my dear!
I read that some people like to fill 2 levels at a time, so I think what I'll do is get a gold filler, apply the red-blonde after that, and then my final color. if that doesn't turn out during my strand test i'll either try a neutral filler with no color or i'll just skip the filler and use the red-blonde.
Thanks for the reply and I'll definitely keep you updated!

Oh, Asiabo, you risk-taker you!!! Right on, that red colour will look beautiful on you, as did the blonde.
I agree with Karen about the filler. I've read that you can 'pigment pack' by applying a semi or demi, wiping it off with a paper towel or damp towel, then applying the permanent or demi colour right over that first colour. Of course, you want to fill two levels lighter than your target colour, so you would probably go with a level 7 red-blonde. I would also recommend deep conditioning with a protein conditioner a few days before this process. That will help the colour to go on more evenly and hold on.
Can't wait to hear how this goes!!!
Love clip-ins and tape!

It does, thank you thank you thank you! I've heard that I can do it two ways:
1) Use a semi, like you suggested, or
2) Use a filler, like this

or the neutral

I guess I'm drawn to the filler because I've read it makes color go on more evenly. Perhaps I'll use the neutral (no color) filler, put the copper semi on top of that, and then continue with the desired shade.
How does that sound?

OTC is fine, apply the semi, develop the semi, rinse the semi and dry hair with hair dryer, then you can apply another semi (desired colour) again, yes. The semi acts as a filler, so no need to use a filler too. We do things a little different from you lovely people in the US, not wrong, just a little different. This is what I would do for a client who came into my salon, someone on HB, might give you another way to do this.
I hope that makes sense to you asiabo

Use a semi to pre pigment the blonde basically this means staining the hair to achieve the target shade. As your hair is soooo white blonde you need to add cooper red semi, and dry this into the hair, then apply your demi or permanent colour over this.
You probably know that your colour will fade pretty quick, so after a few times doing the above the colour will eventually grab onto the hair.
Karen;)

Aww well thank you! I do feel kind of guilty, like I'm abandoning it or something haha. But I had a good run with it and I feel like it's time for a change.
It sounds like what I'm going to need to do is apply both a gold and a red filler, but that's all the information I've gathered so far. I'll definitely keep you updated =)

I apologize in advance if this is too picture heavy; I wanted to give as much info as I could!!
I had my roots touched up yesterday and toned when I came home, but for some reason I was not excited about it like I usually am. So I realized that I've been light blonde for over a year and a half which is quite a long time with one color, at least for me =)
I've been thinking about an auburn color for awhile now, and at this point I'd like a dark, rich auburn, which I think would be appropriate especially since summer is coming to an end. I love this color Lindsay Lohan had (WHY did she try blonde?):
I've also been eyeing these colors:
This is me now, in natural light:
I’m not worried about it being dark, I’ve been brunette before:
SO my question is, how should I go about doing this? I’ll probably have some virgin roots showing when I decide to take the plunge.
I’ll need a filler, yes? Color in brown, red, gold, or should I do neutral? Or both??
I'll do semi-permanent since I don't need any more lift.
I’d like to use Satin hair color because I’ve heard only good things about it, and this swatch (5R) is gorgeous:
i may use 6R because I've been told that Satin runs dark.
