Looking through the pictures I like the updo the best. She has that sexy librarian thing going on. The updo looks very professional and attractive on her - it also makes me think she will still look great with short hair if/when all those theoretical "advisors" have their way.

I mentioned yesterday in a group of six guys that I was glad that she had kept her hair long, and the smiles and hoots of approval to my comment told me that if they do focus groups, the hair will be staying! LOL Bob

I agree, I think her hair will start to change - advisors will try and figure out what will attract more voters (true voters - not just ones who admire her hair but may vote elsewhere)

In the long run, I don't think Palin's present style will survive her advisors.

Hillary's hair actually was a topic now and again during her husband's presidency, as she changed the style several times. And it was a topic during this campaign season - I read more than one commentator wondering how she kept it looking so good so consistently, rarely flat. Plus, Hillary's current style, while "short and boring" to some, I think does suit the professional, polished, pants-suited look she chooses to help ensure people take her seriously. If it were still long, that might not be the case.

By the way, I don't think people are being negative on Palin's hair - opinions seem to be split, with reasonable opinions all around.

I don't know why people are so negative on her hair. Because when Hillary Clinton was running I didn't hear many people say much about her hair at all. Someone should've suggested that Hillary change her short boring style, that she has had for such a long time now.

Not saying she SHOULD do anything, Fatmoogas. I completely agree that if she likes it long, let her keep it long, and I'll go merrily on my way.

I am saying that studies show that how you look affects people's perceptions of you more than how you sound or what you say, and since she is under severe nationwide scrutiny right now, and people are forming opinions of her quickly, and she (presumably) wants to be taken seriously by them, one of the ways she can do that is to choose a more polished, professional style, which means cutting it. Short or long, down or up, people will make judgments about her from her hairstyle (among other factors), and if she wants those judgments to be a certain way (I'm competent, professional etc.) she should consider a style that corresponds to those judgments for most people.

As for short hair taking more work, I didn't realize that, and it's certainly a good argument for her keeping it as is. Ultimately, I do believe it's her hair, her identity, and her call!

I like her hair. When she wears it up, she looks professional, IMO.

Actually, a shorter layered cut would be alot more work. Wash, blowdry, etc. Not to mention keeping it up every 6-8 weeks. Having it a little longer she can wash, put it up in few minutes and look great!

In the week I've known this woman existed, I have been surprised with the consistency with which she seems to a) keep her hair long, and b) keep her long hair put up and out of the way. That combination on any woman has always made me ask myself, if it's that much of a consistent bother for you, why not just cut it, so you can wear it down in a great style that also won't be in your way? Especially true when you're in a public-face job like a politician, when most women (no judgment here) seem to choose short, layered cuts to look more professional and polished.

I personally like the length, but IMHO it does look a little dated, and a little out of step with her age, occupation, and possible next occupation. Plus it seems pointless to me to have it long if it's put up all the time. So I think she should get an above-the-shoulders, layered cut; plenty of styles would flatter her.

As Peggy Olsen just discovered on Mad Men, if you wanna play with the big boys, you can't try to look like a young girl!

Did I get through that whole thing without mentioning my political views? Whew...

I love her hair, and her styles. I hope that the political "experts" get slapped silly if they suggest a makeover. I hope she grows it even longer. It'd look breathtaking on her. Wink Blessings, Bob

Pictures are showing up all over the web.  Only one I've seen without glasses is from her days as a pageant contestant (in which she has short, curly hair).  In her speech to the RNC,  she had most of her hair down with only the top put up--looks to be about mid-back or a little longer.  Google "Sarah Palin pictures."

Has anyone seen her hair down all the way?
How about without glasses?

The bumper sticker popular in Alaska has it right--"Coldest State, Hottest Gov."   Very stylish lady.

Note that this post neither endorsed or criticized her political views.  Political commentary is neither necessary or solicited.
