I use white vinegar (diluted) every week and it doesn't affect my hair colour. I do not use it as a clarifier however, and more of a acidifier to close the cuticle after conditioning/processing. It leaves a great shine. I would try baking soda mixed with the clarifying shampoo --- this works great for getting rid of buildup and does not damage the hair. I have platinum blonde hair and I do this every week to clarify.
People usually use vinegar diluted, and it doesn't remove as much buildup as clarifying shampoo does, so I think you're past the vinegar point anyway since you already clarified.

Yes I DO use conditioners with lots of silicone since my hair tends to be really dry, but I noticed now how much build-up there is after a few weeks, ughhh !
i am switching to more natural conditioners with things like jajoba oil and sunflower oil- I assume these won't leave as much build-up. Btw, I just found out some people swear by a little baking soda mixed with your shampoo, too. I guess it works as a mild abrasive. Though I know it has more chemicals and can also be stripping. I don't think I'll be using baking soda. :-0

The Acid in vineger will affect your colour, so my advice is don't use it.
A trick of the trade I learned was to use bath salts, or bath bombs they can be called, you put them in your bath to soften and scent the bath water. You can apply them by crushing one and apply to wet hair and then condition after. Try avoiding conditioners with a high silicon base, to prevent future product build up.
Hey guys !! I have lots of build up on my hair and have tried using some clarifying shampoos on my hair, all to no avail. I read somewhere a quick rinse of white vinegar after shampooing is a great trick. I DO use vinegar for basic household stains, etc, and it works fine. I am just curious ; does the acidity in vinegar react strongly in hair that has been lightened toned ?
I certainly don't want my color to start washing out because of the white vinegar. Thank You !
