No, it's not pointless. You need to take those vitas, especially if you are coloring it. The way I see it is that you need to take extra special care of yourself and have the strongest hair possible so that you can color it.
In January I started an "experiment" and began taking vitas for the hair and skin, also biotin, and vita E. Sometimes I take primrose along with the rest. And I want to add a flaxseed supplement just haven't taken the time to do so.
I was aiming for "faster" hair growth. But what I am seeing (and these things take time because hair takes time to grow and you will only see the results with new hair growth and time...) is stronger hair, hair that is not falling out as much so it seems thicker (yeah!!), and the growth rate... well I really can not tell you because I cut it just last month. If I can keep the scissors away for the next 2 years like I want to, then I can let you know if it actually picked up speed. Because I know what it has done the last two years, which has been slower than usual.
So, yes. It's the best you can do for yourself and your hair. It'll help give you a stronger base to work from. Just don't over do the dyes, that is where the damage comes in.
Precious is the day... it happens only once in a lifetime.
So, I've been taking vitamins for my hair for almost a month now. Cod Liver Oil at first, and now Ultra Nourishair. In addition to Centrum Performance for overall health.
I've been dyeing my hair for half of my life, and will always do so. My hair is naturally a mousey dark dishwater blonde that has to be lightened, cuz I hate the color. I do use the gentlest thing I know of (John Frieda Beach Blonde Sun Streaks) but it still contains Hydrogen Peroxide. My hair isn't too dry or damaged. Overall, it's pretty healthy. I just have some breakage, not too much.
Will that just kill any good things vitamins have done for my hair?
My main reason for taking vitamins is faster growth, so I guess dyeing won't affect that.
