IA with the clip-ins, my hair is very thin uptop and I had weaves sewn in, when it was taken down, my hair got thinner and they cost way too much for me..I have a few wigs, which I wear on occasion, but I love clip-ins which I make myself and I use synthetic hair, which I personally love b/c it hasn't done me wrong (the brands I've used anyway)
Seamless weft may be damaging to thin, fine hair. I have used it on myself (very fine, thin hair) and many clients with fine thin hair, and some people's hair was ok with it, however some got 'root pull' and it caused bald spots.
You see, people with thinning hair or even very fine hair, sometimes that hair is just not genetically anchored into the scalp as well, hence you can easily get root pull which may lead to permanent baldness from any bit of tension.
If your hair is thinning, there may be NO extension method that will not cause you further damage.
I am definitely a person whose hair is not able to support any type of extension anymore. So, for myself I wear clip in wefts, that I custom made myself. If my hair continues to thin, I will start wearing a lace front wig.
So, I'm giving you the advice that I give to any of my clients with really fragile hair: clip in extensions or a lace wig. Perhaps you could get away with doing strands installed with micro rings too, it just depends on how much tension your hair can withstand.
Just stay away from glue and tape methods. It will rip you hair out.
I have been doing extensions for 18 years and my clientele is largely caucasian. There are many type of extension hair available that is quite suitable for caucasian hair types. Most Indian hair is fine enough in diameter to work very well. If you want to invest more money, you could opt for Russian hair too.

Here is a place that is HALF the price but they custom make it and it comes directly from India. So it takes like 20 days. But you get 1/2 lb of hair for $180 instead of almost $500
If you want to spend the extra $50 on a color ring to ensure you get the color you want you can. Otherwise take a chance on selecting from the website or have them email you a photo of swatches. OR just get the virgin hair, meaning no color and have your own colorist do it.
This company is WAY cheaper if you can wait 20 days.
SEAMLESS is the way to go with thin hair.

How do I find out if I am a good candidate? I hear people talking about hair strength. I know my hair is thin on the top (which is not ideal cause you can see the crown horizon from a low angle) but I would like to see if I can explore doing something with extensions.
I would MUCH rather go that route than a topper or a wig, but I do want to be realistic. I have shorter, curly hair that is a deep ash brown.
I am Irish/German heritage, so all white girl. I have heard it is harder to get good extensions for Caucasian ?!
