This stuff builds up on the hair. It feels like a wet candle. So much waxy build-up.
The build-up makes it harder to color, high light or perm the hair. It just won't penetrate the wax. It also takes longer to dry the hair. It weighs it down after a while. With the build-up the chemicals (color, etc) must stay on the hair longer therefore creating more damage.
It smothers the hair, so when you do use a good conditioner on the hair, it cannot penetrate the cuticle, so the good conditioner is useless.
Problem is that alot of shampoos sold at drugstores and grocery stores have this wax in them. I can always tell a client has used them because as soon as the water at the shampoo bowl hits the hair I can feel it.
RUN RUN RUN far far away from these products.
I am a professional Hairstylist/Haircolorist with 19 years experience. I have traveled all over the country for my advanced education. I am also a salon owner.:)........and I LOVE Redken!!!
I used up a bottle each of shampoo and conditioner for normal hair a few years back. I just didn't like the way it left my hair; it was definitely one of those times I was waiting to finish it so I could buy something else.
I used the pantene smooth & sleek the other day at my friend's place. It made my hair smooth and shiny and I was so happy. But the next day it looked totally flat and limp and I also noticed that my hair was breaking more easily while combing. I have also used the extra volume S&C and hated it. I don't think pantene is for my hair.
I use it every now and then. It does make my hair soft and shiny, but if I use it a lot, it tends to weigh my hair down. So I'm not against, but not completely for either.

I am against Pantene. I've never bought it, but I've tried it at friends' houses, and it always dries my hair out. Does nothing for my tangles, either. I don't think it's anything I'd ever want to buy.
