I don't know what causes the popularity but I'm glad that it happened as I love the cut and I don't think I will ever tire of seeing it.

IMO, is always included in what we say here--whether we say it directly or not.

I would suggest this is really a theme for "Hair Politics" as it's a general point and no particular celebrity is mentioned. It's interesting, but perhaps misplaced on this board.

Don't want to get in an extended argument Fat, but when you use the term "most men" with no qualification, you are implying that a MAJORITY of men everywhere feel this way.  Thus, there must be some study or basis for this "fact".

If you said something like "IMO most men" or "it appears to me most men" then it is an opinion & would be fine.  You could also say "many men" or "most of the men I know".

Using you eyes?  Sorry, I don't understand what that means in this context.

Just using my eyes MIS. By the way "fact" is in YOUR italics! (I never used the word)

Most men?  What is your basis for this "fact"?

Just wanted to comment on the stunning popularity of the inverted bob (or "a-line?" You know, the one where it's shorter in back).

It's been back in force for a couple of years now, in many variations.I don't think I've ever seen a single style be this popular with this many women for this long. It seems any woman I of any age, background, ethnicity, etc. I pass on the street, if her hair is above her shoulders in the general neighborhood of a bob, she'll likely be sporting some variation of this inverted bob. And it's been around long enough that some women must be liking it enough to keep getting it re-cut in that style, rather than it being a one-time experiment they tried and grew out.

The thing that's most mysterious to me given its popularity - and I mean this with all due respect, bob fans - is that I don't think it makes most women who wear it more attractive. Don't get me wrong, I do like it, I think it's interesting and kind of cool, and it does make me turn my head to see how the exact cut looks on each head. Some women look great with it.

But then again, I'm a hair freak, and its appeal to me is more scientific curiosity. It doesn't strike me as a change that would make a woman look more alluring to most men, the way more traditional moves like growing it long, dying it blonde, making it fuller/curlier/wavier/messier might.

Any guesses on what accounts for the popularity of the inverted bob?
