QuoteReplyTopic: Proclaim Hair Glue from Sally's Posted: September 17 2009 at 7:55am
Okay I just put that proclaim glue in my hair for the first time and was told by a couple of people it worked very well. I put two small strips on each side of my head and then two bigger strips at the back. I had originally tried the LG but it just came out and would not stay in. Does this mean this proclaim glue is difficult to get out of our hair? I am not too worried about the extension hair as I do not really need to use it again. Oh just another question how long can the glued extensions stay on for and is there a lot of damage to your natural hair. I have used a lot of other methods but this is the only one I have done on my own and really like the fact that I can take if off and add new hair withtout paying for labour or having to make appointments. I am worried about damage though.

I soaked the extensions (sewed ends only) in acetone and that made most of the latex glue harden up a bit so I could brush it out with a nail brush. Had to work quick though because after about 10 minutes it started gumming up again.
After a shampoo, condition and a silicone glaze treatment the hair is useable but obviously not as shiney and soft.
Hello all. It's been a really long time since I've posted but here goes.
So the other day I get a wild hair and decide I want hair extensions.
I run to Sally's and get two packs of the wefted hair (don't recall what it's called), some Proclaim hair glue and Proclaim glue remover. I know better than to do this, but I'm impatient and very "spur of the moment". Plus, it was fairly cheap (comparatively). I install the hair and am happy for the moment.
Fast forward two days -- I decide to take them out.
Fast forward another 4 days -- finally get the glue/oil out of my hair.
Here's the problem now. I can not get that glue out of the extension hair. I won't glue it back in my hair but I'd like to at least make some clip ins from it since I paid $120. I don't want to feel like I just totally wasted that money. I searched the forum and google and didn't find anything specifically for Proclaim glue in extension hair. Using conditioner and the fine tooth comb just doesn't work. I've also tried baby oil and dawn dish soap. It gets some of it out but most of it just stays at the top by the track and what does come down doesn't come all the way down and just gets stuck further down the hair. Maybe the comb isn't fine enough? Plus, there's gobbs and gobbs of it stuck to the sewed part of the track that just rolls and sticks and sortof smears. It's hard to explain.
I did find something about using Goo Gone, acetone, orange oil or baking powder in shampoo on the forum to get LG out of your hair so I'll try one of those tomorrow to see what happens. My only concern there is that I have some LG and the consistency and texture of it are soooo different from this Proclaim stuff. I hope that doesn't make a difference in what will work to get it out. The Proclaim reminds me of elmers school glue.
If anyone knows of anything other than those four things, or if I'm using the wrong comb (Little black comb, fine side. The kind men usually put in their back pocket) to get it out of my extension hair that would be great.
Thanks for reading my rant and yes I've learned my lesson.
