QuoteReplyTopic: Can I Mix Together Two Base Colors? Posted: August 30 2009 at 2:09pm
Thanks Karen
I didn`t realize about the two mixed together. I`ll be sure not to do that!
I was just thinking of dark brown for now. Maybe I`ll just keep doing my roots with the 5 and hope it doesn`t look too strange a contrast.

Mix 5N and 6N together will only turn your root area to a 5N, as the 5 is the darker base.
What colour are you wanting to achieve?. My advise is to strip your colour with colour remover, as you have so much variation of colours on your hair, they will all intermix, especially the red tones as they will always show through eventually. Start over again is my advise.
I`ve had a base 5N Loreal Marejel on my hair and it was too dark. I lightened it a bit with dandruff shampoo and my stylist then told me to use a 6N which I did.
Recently I went to a stylist wanted red highlights. He talked me out of it because he said they wouldn`t show up well. Then I agreed to go dark auburn all over. I like it but it`s maybe a little too dramatic for me and my roots are lighter. I`m wondering if I can mix a 5N and a 6N together and do my roots ...I have about 30% greys. Then just keep doing that and eventually this color will fade or grow out? I have thick curly hair and don`t want to put any more color all over it due to it being so porous.\
Will these two bases mix up okay? That way I would have an inbetween the two colors that I like.
Also I`m wondering if it will look terrible as this color grows out?
