If I were you, I would just use a violet or blue shampoo. There's no need to go to a salon to ask for a toner since they'll charge you a lot of money for it and you're damaging your hair for no reason. You can buy a blue or violet shampoo in any beauty supply store. Sally's definitely carries them. Sometimes they have them in stores like Walmart too, but they're not that common to find there. I recommend using Shimmers Light - it's great. My stylist once messed up my roots (when I had platinum blonde highlights) and they turned egg yolk yellow. After a few times of shampooing my hair with Shimmer Lights, my highlights became platinum white. Don't worry about turning your hair platinum white. It happened to me because I used the shampoo every day and left it on for like 15 minutes each time. You should use your's 2 times a week and your hair will become less golden. You shouldn't leave it on for more than 5 minutes because your hair may turn purple-ish. If it does, don't worry. A clarifying shampoo will take the purple pigment out right away.

If you don't want it lighter all you need it a toner, to give the highlights a different "tone".

I personally would try a purple/blue conditioner to give ou a cooler blonde,  or go back to the salon and get them to put a toner on.

Hi everyone

I have dark brown hair and have my hair highlighted to keep it blonde. I just did my highlights and we did a golden toner (I go to a salon) to give me more of a Lauren Conrad blonde. Still light but not pale as I once had before.

I love the color but when I pull my hair back into a ponytail it's a little too golden at the top. It's not orange but I just don't like it.

What can my stylist do to fix this? I don't know if I want it lighter necessairly or just a different shade.

I love the color throughout so I do not want to change that.

Any advice would be great :)
