How-to hair style?

   Ever since having long hair, its bugged me a bit, it just takes me too long to get the hair i want, i need advice! :D im 18, male and my hair is just about to my nose and to my neck in the back.

Any tips on how to get hair this soft, shiny and straight in a reasonable amount of time?
 Ive scoured the interwebs for a bit but didnt find what i was looking for, i can get my hair straight and somewhat smooth but its always a little frizzy and poofy in spots i wish i had a picture but i dont :( 
Anyways any help, recommended products or good links are appreciated!!!!!!
