Unfortunately, your hair has hit a really bad state.  If it is already to the point of stretchyness and breaking off, I really wouldn't recommend coloring it again as it may just break off right below the root area.  As for recovery and repair, there really is no such thing.  Heavy conditioning products add silicone to the hair, this can coat the hair, making it feel smoother and help hide breakage that is going on underneath the coat.  So while it feels like your hair has improved, it is really still at the breakage state, and since hair is dead, nothing is really going to heal it.  Hair vitamins, if they have any effect at all, will only help your hair that is still being nourished/growing inside your head.  I know I'm full of cheery news, I'm sorry.  I know this sucks.

I can think of a couple of things - There is a pen you can use to do your roots only without putting chemicals on the rest of your hair-  Quicktint:  http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/341989/product_review_quicktint_instant_hair.html?cat=69

I haven't used this, but it can help you hide your roots for at least a little longer.  My understanding is that its not dye, its make up, so it covers your roots with more of a paint than a dye.  So, this isn't really an answer for long, but maybe it will help you get your roots long enough so that when you dye your roots only, if you get breakage it will be further from your scalp, and your hair make break off to a longer point than it would now.  (One of the reviews in this article even tells you where you can get it in the UK.)

Another option is going darker with colored shampoo and conditioner.  I'm not sure this will work anymore. If you get the color enhancing ones that are thick and look like paint in the bottle (not anything translucent), they may stick pretty well to heavily lightened hair like yours if you use them every wash.  I used both red shampoo and brown for awhile on mine, it at least lessened the roots during grow out ...unfortunately I don't think they make the brand I was using anymore, which was Complements (now I think all the Complements line is actual dye), so I can't tell you for sure this will still work, as I don't know if what they make now is comparable.

There's always demi or semi permanent darker dye too, but I'd test strand any chemicals that you use, that way you can see what kind of breakage you're going to get in advance.

As for conditioners, a really good pro that used to post here always recommended L'Anza for breakage situations, so that is probably very good.

Hey all, Right i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice..

I am naturally dark haired and i used to have dyed black hair, this took me a LONG TIME to get rid of it out my hair, to the point where i decided to have my hair cut into a really short victoria beckham style crop to cut the colour out, i then had blonde streaks each time i went to the salon in a bid to eventually be able to totally blonde my whole head, after a few sets of very light blonde streaks i decided to get a home Jerome russel bleching kit to do my full head, which then obviously turned my hair white since then i have been colouring it with different shades of blonde to find a colour i like, Problem is, my roots begin showing badly after about 2 weeks and my hair looks a state therefore i need to colour my hair every 2 weeks! Last friday i coloured my hair with a medium champagne blonde from nice n easy and the colour came out abit pinky, so i then put a blonde toner on to try an tone down more pinker shades (i know champagne blonde does have pinky tones in it but these where really quite pinky/purple!) after i had washed out the colour, then put the shader on and washed that out i put on a deep conditioning mask from john frieda from the sheer blonde range to extra condition my hair after it had basically been through hell with a colour AND toner all in one go, when i had washed that off my hair seemed fine so off i went to my dressing table to dry and style, i began to comb my hair and to my horror hair was coming out in the comb! My hair had become quite elasticy and stringy (if that makes sence) and had began breaking off!!! i was horrified! So since then i have tried not to use heat on my hair, and also have bought some Gliss Repair shampoo and conditioner, Anti breakage leave in lotion and Tresemme Heat protection spray to try and help, i am also taking hair vitamins, my hair hasnt really been breaking off since then and does seem slightly happier with the products i am currently using. I have spoken to a few people and they have said not to colour my hair now for ATLEAST 4 weeks though to let it recover abit, but like i said earlier my roots start showing after about 2 weeks and my hair looks terrible!! I dont know what to do! Is there anything i can use so my roots dont look as bad? Or is there any products anyone can recommend to speed up the recovery/repair process of my hair so it can be coloured in 2 weeks time?
Any tips or advice would be much appreciated!!!!
Thanks Guys! Thumbs%20Up
