Okay, so from what I understand is you want to go back to light brown from very dark brown, is that correct?

If I understand it right, then this is what I'm going to do in your case: I would not buy another light brown color to put on top of the almost black one because color doesn't lift color. I would recommend going to a salon where they will possibly perform a bleach back to lighten your hair a bit to the closest color level you want and use the color on top of your bleached hair to get the shade you want (probably a demi-permanent since it's less damaging for bleached hair). This is a double-process so I have no idea about price.

I hope I somewhat answered your question. :)

First things first sorry if this question has been asked 100 times but, I am a guy, with hair similar to ''scene'' or ''emo'' as some people call it. My hair is similar to those of Pete Wentz, so you get a better idea of my length. Basically my hair was natural brown roots, and there was still some black dye from my previous dye. I decided to use a hi-lift about 1 month ago, and what happened was this orangey, brownish and blonde color. So a few days ago I went to a salon to get a dark brown, and I don't know what happened, but it looks pretty black to me. It looks like there's brown streaks, it's streaky, the brown color appears to have taken my roots more, but overall it's very dark(black). So, what can I do to lighten it, I'm very impatient. Everyones telling me not to dye it again cause it will turn orangey or fall out. Can I go back to the salon and hope they fix it for free? Should I wait and grow it out and hope with time and washing it will fade (which looks doubtful) Dark hair really flushes me and washes me out, makes me look pretty badDead, its pretty tough to deal with at this age. So can someone please help me out, what would be my best bet. I straighten my hair, so I do not care about damage, my hair is hardly damaged after all this dying. How can I get my hair to a lighter medium brown color, anything just to have lighter hair, that looks all one color?
