Good news post. Great. I for one needed a happy post. No cut. LOL.

I agree. She looks so much better with longer hair. She's a tall girl and although she's well proportioned I think her shorter hair accentuated her strong jawline and chin.
Klaatu48 - I'm also a fan of the show and love all the cast. But I agree, she is never dressed appropriate and there is no way she would be running in those heels. Bet you any money she goes bare foot on set when they're not filming. :-)
Hawg...Hair is just getting way too big with the updos. I saw a photo today of Rachel McAdams with a ridiculous barrel curled updo stacked way too high for her face. It was for a past movie premiere. Yuck. The rule of thumb in the cosmo world is the updo should be no higher than the total length of the forehead from hairline to top of the nose.
Great topic Durango.....thanks so much.

Much more beautiful with long hair--and I don't care if it's suitable for the role! (anyway, it would be absurd to assume that all real women police officers have short hair).

I like how Stana looks with her hair long, but, for the character she plays, having it long and loose is somewhat ridiculous. The shorter style fits Kate Beckett far more than the glam-styles they've had her wear lately (though in one episode they lamely tried to explain away her tendency to wear high heels when chasing down bad guys, so I'm sure they'd try the same with her hair). For that reason, I'd like to see her get it cut into something more sensible for a detective, or keep it tied/pulled back except in the off-duty scenes.
(Huge fan of the show, which is why my bar for realism is set high.)
Klaatu, you're right about the hairstyle a real detective might have. And I like the show too--well written and very clever. But I sort of gave up on any semblance of reality in most any TV show long ago. It's not just the high heels. I commented in my earlier thread that I have yet to meet a female detective on duty wearing full on evening makeup.
Almost every cops and robbers or action show with a female star periodically pulls the TJ Hooker gambit as an excuse to glam the gal up!

Durango, I've noticed all the updo's lately also and have been wondering if she's going to do something different. Her hair looks awesome long and curly but she hasn't been showing it off. No predictions this time; just curious.

It's been on the grow since then, and at the start of season four, had grown out to about 12" below her shoulders.
I get the impression that she isn't quite sure what to do with it from here. First she tried that old fall back, the alien throat grabber 'do, with the front graduated and curled in over her throat. Shortest lengths were just a little below her chin. In the last few episodes before the show went into the Christmas rerun season, she almost always wore it pulled back into a bun, pony tail, or braid, usually in fairly casual styles. There are lots of photos on ABC and Getty.
I'm not sure where she's going with this, but I like her in the longer length and different styles.
