I'm a guy with 3 inch strait hair, i had it shaved and have let it grow out to this point and its all the same length.

I want to keep the top long and trim up the sides

I just want to be able to get out of the shower, towel dry it a little, run my fingers thru the top once and let it fall forward and then forget about it.... i dont wanna have to brush it, style it, gel it, or any of that annoying stuff...

So what would be a good cut for what i wanna do? I thought about asking for an undercut, but then I don't know because those 'can' look rather...ugly....but maybe not? how about a fade? or something else?
