I dunno. I think Anne rocks long, short, blonde and brunette really well. Her vivid features transmit her personality no matter what hairstyle she wears.

I suspect the blonde is stark on purpose. It doesn't seem like her goal was to create a natural, realistic blonde with different embedded shades, but to go with a one-color, more stark version that would fit with the event at which she debuted it (the punk thing) and would be striking and daring in a way that models' hair often is. Especially since she's continued to appear at fashion events wearing these striking, model-y outfits.
To me, as always, it's more about the styling than the color. I liked it a lot brushed back at its debut, not so much all pushed forward.

You know, the more I see of this, the more I...uh...just don't like it. It's not the dark brows with blonde hair look - I love that on Gwen Stefani - but I think it's just how stark the blonde is. It seems to wash her out and make her already large features larger.
She already proved she could wear short hair better than I expected with her pixie, but I think this pushes her over the fine line she had successfully been dancing on. Ironically, I think the ultra blonde look may be more workable with a length closer to a bob with a bit more fullness, but will not be her best choice.
So, I'll bide my time until the inevitable growth to a full chin-length or so layered bob. Hopefully with some fullness and wave to it. In the meantime, I'll let those with "pixie" and "short" in their nom de plumes enjoy Anne's 'dos for a while.

3 pm is simultaneously too late and too early to start anything.
I like the Met Gala style a lot more, piled up and brushed back. But what hits me more is how confident she looks. She is really having a blast with this. Good for her!

I think it's pretty cool, and even more I like what it represents -- that instead of rushing back to REALLY long hair, as so many stars do when they go very short, she's embracing the moment and being even bolder with her choices. This is so totally unexpected from her, which is what I love about it. And it's what turns pretty women into style icons (as long as they don't eventually revert back -- right, Katie Holmes?).
By the way, this photo makes the sides look darker and kind of detached from the top, but in other photos you can see they're all one color and it looks more cohesive.
