I don`t really think about it. Before I get it cut, or when I just fix it every day, I`ll ask, "Is this ugly?" But...I don`t really think about it. I do whatever`s comfortable, and that`s usually a sloppy ponytail. :p

Hi Karen Marie,

Thanks for the details.

I know what you mean. I almost always wear my hair pulled back. Not my best look IMO, but it`s practical and work-ready.

If you`re reading this at home, maybe take that "moment" now, then? :-)

Hi Dave,

I`m sorry, I didn`t really explain myself.
I didn`t mean so much to use the word `style` as I did how I actually wore my hair. I didn`t mean a cut at all.
:-)

For example, I wear my hair pulled back tightly or in a bun often. This is typically a professional type of look as opposed to that "just got out of bed" look with it all down.
I use the term "just got out of bed" meaning that is how I wear it to bed, down, and not to imply that it is messy if down.

When I wear it down with the ends curled, I feel much younger looking, but it takes time and work, and I`m pretty much an on-the-go kind of girl. I guess I should take more of those "moments" to splurge on hair time.

:-) Hope this helps to explain what I meant.

Hi Karen Marie,

"... there are ways that I could wear my hair to look younger and feel much better about myself..."

Are you kidding me!

No other hairstyle could possibly make you look any younger! (IMO)

I can`t imagine how a different hairstyle could make you feel better about yourself... would you like to elaborate?

Hello,

I have to say that I wear my hair only for myself. The style I choose, or the way in which I wear it, I should say, is based on my activities and not pleasing the opposite sex.

Though hubby compliments me when my hair is down and fixed, he is in agreement with whatever style I choose, and in fact, if I suddenly decided to get a short bob with layers and dye it a different color, he would continue to compliment me just as much. Perhaps it is not fair that I answer this question, as I feel quite lucky to have a spouse who compliments me whether I comb my hair neatly or wear messy pony tails.

I like it long, I like it curled and I like it up in a bun.

Truth is, I think that long, flowy hair looks very sexy, and there are ways that I could wear my hair to look younger and feel much better about myself, but I`m quite settled into my relationship, so the need to look or feel sexy doesn`t really play such a big part of my hairstyle anymore. Don`t get me wrong, I don`t look like Ruth Buzzie or anything, but you get the idea.

I suppose if I were younger and wanted to attract men, I would definitely wear it down more.

Just rambling at this point, hope I`ve helped.

Karen Marie

My husband is in the forces and is often away for many months at a time. Unfortunately, as a result of a past indiscretion on my behalf, my husband becomes very nervous when he goes away. I therefore make sure that the day before he sets sail, I visit the hairdresser and make sure that my hair is permed and cut into a short and conservative style. This was not his idea, it was his mothers. I had a discussion with her, explained that he was feeling insecure as a result of my indiscretion and asked for her advice. At the time my hair was long and quite sexy and she suggested that maybe it would help if I toned down my image. She didn`t put any pressure on me and after careful consideration I decided that the hair should go. I didn`t tell my husband what I was going to do, but made an appointment for the afternoon before he was to leave. I had all my hair cut off and permed into quite a traditional short curly style.I presented myself to him that evening with my g sexy hair having been replaced with plain and somewhat dowdy short haircut. He never knew why I did it, but he loved my new look and I`m sure that with my toned down image, he set sail with a happier heart. That was 10 years ago and although I allow my hair to grow whilst he`s at sea or on shore duty ( I like to look pretty for him on his return and whilst he`s here), once he`s off to see again, purely through my own choice, I make sure that the hair comes off, the curls are nice and tight and he`s waived farewell by his little miss prim and propper who`s no threat to anyone.

When trying to attract someone, I would often wear my hair how I thought looked the best. Since I met my husband I have often times tried to wear it how he likes it. However, I wish he`d comment on my hair more often so would I know if I`m wearing a style he likes. :) He did tell me not to cut it all off again. It was very short when I met him but he obviously liked me anyway. I think he tries to please me too but sometimes he cuts it very short in the summer because he works in the sun a lot. I don`t necessarily like it very short, but I have to realize that it is for his comfort. So he compromises and keeps it a little longer in the winter and the times he has off.

I think it will vary as much as the short vs. long debate. Personally, I wear my hair the way my spouse likes it best. I want to be as attractive as I can to her and this is one way to do it. I don`t know what I would do if she wanted me to wear it in a way I find really ugly. My spouse doesn`t wear hers exactly the way I find most attractive but she does compromise. I have tried other styles but I go back to the style she prefers.

I was just wondering how much does pleasing the opposite sex play a part in what you do with
your hair, and whether you decide to keep or change a hairstyle.
