Thicker hair is kinda` hard to do anything with, but my brother has a problem very similar to yours and this is what works for him. I`m assuming that you would cut your hair fairly short on the sides and a little longer on top. Find a stylist that is fairly confident using a razor and have them really thin and texturize the top of your hair. Now you`ll probably have to find some really stiff products to make sure the style will stay when you try it out. Try a styling glue, ICE and Paul Mitchell have some really good ones out on the market. Work it through your hair while it`s still wet or damp and try to push the spikes in place while using a blow dryer, the lowest setting will be fine because if it`s too high it may blow your hair around too much. Kinda` finger style while it`s drying, but don`t run your hands trough it too much or you may break up the spikes and have it turn into a poofy mess. Hope that helps.
i have very thick, a little wavy, and kinda puffy hair (very hard to style). My friend said in order to even get my hair to spike my hair would have to be straight and lay flat on my head. Is he right? if so, how can i do this? if not, what can i use to spike it?
