I definately agree with the wax. If you apply it correctly to your roots and lift it upward into your hair, the hair will be together, like spikes, but not hard and will be floppy.
Your problem is "max hold gel". Gel makes your hair hard. You should use a pomade or wax to create your spikes and they will have shine, look more natural and have movement and flexibility. If the spikes were shiny my bet would be on wax. Sparingly used wax will create the look you want.
Hey, I`m new here, and I was wondering if I could get some help regarding soft spikes. To start off, my hair is about 1-2inches long, tops. And I`ve been spiking it for a while, using many types of maximum hold gels. And while that does give me a very stable hairstyle, it`s not exactly the greatest. The other day, I happened to see someone on the bus with spikes that were soft, and floppy, but only at one inch in length, and they had the look and shine of hard spikes, only they were highly flexible i.e. they moved in the wind, I`ve been dying to know how that look can be achieved, post if you can help me, Thanks!
