In a way, glad someone else had the same problem, though it doesn't make me happy that you too were disappointed. I found a t-shirt I wore the next day after the first shampoo. When I went to wash it, it had orange/red stains wherever my hair touched it. So that's where the red went!
Excellence, IMO, is geared toward those just concerned with gray coverage. If the color doesn't come out right, they're still satisfied because it does cover gray wonderfully. But if you want it for a bright, snazzy color, forget it.
Tried Redken's Injection Conditioner in Rouge after the second shampoo. Lovely! Turned it a rich red, even my husband commented on it. After the next shampoo, most of the red is gone, though not entirely. I'll use it again but have to be careful as it contains dye that can build up and make the hair look dull.
So, you like to act! Years ago my husband and I belonged to a theatre group. It was the best times of our lives. Nothing like that applause, or hearing the laughter of an audience at the jokes if you're doing a comedy.
Too bad the profession pays so little except for the ones that make it, and their numbers are very few.

yes, I was disappointed, too. I used it in black when I wanted to go back to my natural haircolor. The color was dull and flat...even moreso than my hair before I colored it! lol....

After taking into consideration that my husband would be coloring my hair, I decided to settle on L'Oreal Excellence in Light Auburn, 6R. Its thick, rich creme is very easy to work with. This is the first time I ever had a haircolor not retain its color beyond one shampoo.
My hair was medium auburn before; the Light Auburn shade was suggested by L'oreal. It turned out a lovely light auburn with blond highlights. Then I went to the stylist for a trim. She used a shampoo for color treated hair, and when it dried all the auburn was gone. I mean ALL--it was pretty shocking. I now have medium golden brown--nice, but absolutely nothing special.
Now other brands at least gave me red/auburn which lasted 3-4 weeks, but this was ridiculous. Where oh where did the auburn go? That's the last "excellence" for me. Anyone else dissatisfied with this brand? Also, color is flat compared to others and lacks the shine that I usually get with a hair color.
Boy, am I disappointed. At least the gray is gone. That's about the only good thing, but then Natural Instincts covered the gray and looked a lot shinier too. Guess that's why there are so many choices out there.
