When that happened to me, I just went out for some brown to put over it, but I know that's not the most recommended course of action. Some hair just takes dyes weirdly, I guess. Mine sure seems to, sometimes :-P . I guess the best. . . advisable advice *laughs*. . . I can give is, just don't use that brand again :-P . Try to remember which brands give good or bad results as you try different ones out, and if you find the one that gives the truest, most even results on your hair, stick with it.
More awesome than a manatee!

This has happened to me before and when I went to the salon to get it fixed the hairdresser told me that it is because my hair "pulls" a lot of red. I guess I have some reddish highlights in my natural color that cause this.
Somewhere along the way I found out that (when doing my own haircolor) I need to use haircolors that have word "ash" in them to counteract the red. Using colors that have words like "warm" or "golden" in them always make my hair too red or brassy. This might be the same case with you. I hope this helps.
i did call the company, it was herbal essences, and i got a refund, but as for the color, it is still pretty vibrant. tomorrow i am going to a salon and having them try something, i just really don't want to dye my hair too much and have it be really dry and brittle. wish me luck!
yesterday i went to the store with a friend to chose a new hair color. i ended up picking a nice dark shade of brown with a slight undertone of red. very slight. the back of the box said that the color was to be used on a person with dark hair, which i had. well, after doing it, my hair is orange. literally, orange, red. in reality it is not a horrible color, but not what i wanted in the least. i need help, i want to color it back to dark brown, but i am afraid to buy another box and i dont have the time or money to go to a salon. what should i do?
