This website mentions that henna softens the hair, I've found it has the opposite effect on my hair. I used it once about 10 years ago and it made my hair feel rough. Other people love it, though.

Another important thing about henna -- If you plan on colouring your hair with any other products in the future, you will have to wait until all of the henna has faded from your hair.
