Hello, I'm a natural brunette with brown eyes, but at the moment by hair is died a dark-medium brown color.
It's died this color because I wanted it back to my natural color. I've died my hair many times, many different colors so there was always this red tint to it, but I died it dark brown once again to get red of those red tones. This was about 3 months ago, and it still looks fab and its growing out with my natural color well.
Well, what I'm wanting to get done is some blonde highlights. My friend had them done by her mother and her hair is just as dark as mine and her hair didn't turn out yellow or anything! But I still want to get it done at a salon just to make sure because i've had bad experience with at home dies in the past..... orange, yellow. yuck.
I want my hair like Kelly Clarksons in her video "break away". (in the red carpet glamour scene) My hair is about as long as hers and about the same color. I belive she does have darker eyes, from most of her pictures, so I figured, maybe this will look good on me? lol...

I don't think your eye color matters. You can have any hair you want as long as it goes with your skin tone. Highlights on such dark hair will look very drastic, but that is the style right now and I'm sure it will look good on you.
If you go to the salon, and wind up with highlights that look a little too orange or yellow for your taste, let them know then and there so they can fix it before you leave.
If your friend's mom has lots of dyeing experience, you may want to consider asking her to do yours (and you can offer to pay her for the work)...at least you've already seen what she can do and you liked the results.

i personally love your dark hair on you. But highlights would brighten up anyone's face. The only thing is Kelly Clarkson's base color is a few shades lighter than your's. She has a very warm caramal brown color so the honey blonde highlights go good with it. Blonde highlights may look streaky onsuch dark hair maybe a little goth looking. Maybe you might want to consider lightening it up a couple shades before you get the highlights so you can achieve that Kelly Clarkson look you want. Talk to your colorist about it. They may be able to take your base a few shades lighter while your highlights are lightening in foils.
My hair is not as dark as the pictures you see at the top,..... if you scroll down towards the bottom, where u see the goofy pics with the glasses, you can tell it's starting to get the red tint back...... and it is a bit lighter... I like it where it is right now, and my hair is definalty not black looking like it looks in those pics..... But I get what you're saying.... blonde on black would just remind me of like Kelly Osbourne instead of Kelly Clarkson... LOL. And I assure you, i am not goth/punk blah...
