I'm not sure if anyone but Carrie fisher knows the answer to this, but could any one tell me if Princess Leia's hair was her own in any of the Star Wars films. I've looked everywhere to try and find out. The reason I'm asking is that even though my hair is longer than her's when she is shown with it down on Endor, I still can't copy any of th styles accurately. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Star wars fan here......

Yes the "buns" were extensions along with her long ponytails in Jedi.

I heard and interview of her talking about it.

Thanks Lili, that's a great help. At least I can sleep peacefully tonight!. Do you know if the plait that went right around her head were also false, or was it just incredible braiding? I looked on Starfilly's page, where she copied all the styles, but that one wasn't accurate, because she did it with two plaits and a parting. If you could help me again it would be great. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure the Nordic braid was added on. Judging from old photos, Carrie Fisher's hair was shoulder-length at that time, and you'd need hair much longer than that to get the wrap-around braid naturally.

As for the buns, if you want to get an authentic look you'll need more than just your long hair! I bear a *slight* resemblence to a young Carrie Fisher and went as her for Halloween one year. My hair was past BSL at that point but I still needed add-on buns because few people have that much hair by nature! I bought two LONG clip-on ponytails from Trade Secret, removed the claw, cinched the drawstring around the side bun and then wrapped the ponytail into a big ol' Danish bun. (This is a picture of the ponytail, worn down: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-8/210233/ponytail.jpg ) I will try to find and scan a photo of me as Leia...it's worth a good laugh!

Out of curiosity, are you going to a convention or something? You're in good company either way--LiliBeach and I apparently both like SW too

Erm...no, I'm not going to a convention.I'd love to though, but those things just don't happen in Britain, only sometimes in London. I'm just one of those pathetic fans that wants to be like the characters. Also, some of the styles I can get away with in work because I work in an art shop filled with Star Wars fans. After I found Starfilly's page, I wondered if it was possibe for one person to do all the styles on real hair. She'd done an incredible job of the buns because they looked exactly right. So, I was just curious. Please scan in a picture if you can, it would be great to laugh at...er...see your wonderful imitation.

No offense taken If you are going to laugh at me, laugh because I secretly adore Star Trek: TNG (the Patrick Stewart series.)

Anyway, I found a site selling CHEAP clip-ons with apparently removable claw attachments: http://store.yahoo.com/wowwigs/tn1127.html

THAT'S cheap! Eek. Oh well, bang goes that idea. I just realised that I've been going on about Starfilly without saying who she is. Sorry. I don't know how to make a link, but this is her adress if you want to look at her web page:

http://starfilly7.cjb.net/

On it she's done ALL the styles from ALL the films and says how to do them. Very good resource. Its incredible what you can do with a tupperware box, pop bottle and over-active imagination..

Star Trek is very cool too, IMO. And Thunderbirds. Which is good because Jonathan Frakes is directing the Thunderbirds movie. . I can't wait for that.. In case you hadn't guessed.

That is truly amazing! She's done a great job and is obviously someone with as much time on her hands as me I love the Nordic braid-around-the-head...a very nice style even for the real world.
