fusion extensions....HELP!

Okay, I picked the smiley icon because I am optimistic about this. I started getting fusion bonded extensions this Feb and began with Great Lengths. When those grew out enough I went to someone who did Lord and Cliff because I had moved. The product that removes Lord and Cliff did nothing for deteriorating the Great Lengths bonds and the stylist ended up doing what you said, melting and applying solution. I ended up with VERY thin hair. Then she applied Lord and Cliff, which I absolutely HATED. The bonds fell apart in the shower when I conditioned my hair, even when I used what my stylist recomended, and when I dried my hair, even keeping the dryer decently cool and far from the bonds, the things still fell out all over the place. I would lose about 4 each time I washed and styled my hair. I NEVER lost the Great Lengths. I even lost one on a blind date in the limo and my date was horrified that my hair was falling out. My stylist said my experiences were to be expected and told me to save the ones that fell out and charged me $60 to replace them. I was in there every two weeks and it got so ridiculous. Also each grouping of hair was way to heavy for my hair, and she took very small sections of my hair, so they were ripping my hair out at the roots. I ended up with little bald spots all over the back of my head and even thinner hair in the back. The next set of extensions (now required since I have barely any real hair left in the back) were the Monkey Barz type. I don't know exactly if that is what they are but it seemed like she applied them with a glue gun. She took my old ones out with acetone. I can't imagine that is good for my hair. Now the glue gunned ones are due to come out and I am considering the weft attached ones to give my hair a break. I don't even know what's left back there but I hope when I get these off that there is something left to be braided. I got a consultation on them today and they stylist had no idea how to remove the fusion bonds and said I would have to go to someone who does them to get them out. The problem is I just moved back to Iowa and no one here does fusion bonds, another reason I am going for the wefts. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to use to remove them? Should I use acetone? Also, does anyone recamend any brand of wefts over others? They order them for you at that salon but I want good quality hair. Any experiences with the wefts would be welcome as well! If I can answer questions for anyone about my experiences fire away. Also I will be in Ft Lauderdale this weekend if there are any stylists in that area who would want to fit me in and do the new extensions. I have no direction when it comes to the things since each stylist I visit bashes the last one and tells me something completely different. I am so confused now I don't even care. I just want longish and full hair. Even when mine wasn't damaged all to hell it was thin and never got very long. Oh, and if they pull out at the roots will my hair grow back or is it going to be thin forever because of these? I don't want to be bald!

Hairlocs uses thin metal clamps that thread through the extension and your own hair and then they are tightly pressed into and against the hair shaft with pliers. This pressure is what keeps them from falling off your own hair strand.

Please research this option. There are plenty of women who have already had them removed to discover major hair loss, breakage and extreme costs to install and maintain. More and more documentation is happening on Internet boards all over from women who are out MAJOR bucks.

The shells themselves are copper. The color chips off leaving this copper exposed and it turns the hair green underneath. Attractive, eh?
