After having maint done on my Hairloc's last week, I have had it with the entire extension thing. I have spent sooooooo much money (at least a total of $7,000.00) on this hair and also for Great Length's. When I originally had Hairloc's put in a few months ago, I had her put in 22" (she said that was the longest thay had, come to find out, that's not the truth, at least that's not what the company said when I called today) so I ordered 50 more bonds a few weeks ago and was going to have them added when I went for maint last week (and to also have the 33 bonds that had come out, put back in) well after all was said and done, I stated to the girl that did them "My hair looks alot shorter now", and she said "No, it's just that your hair had grown out so much", well it had grown out an inch but were talking a difference of 4 inchs. I went home and measured the bonds and they are 18". Why in the hell would somebody lie about that?!?!? For cryin out loud, if the company doesn't have my length in stock (22"s) then just tell me. I wouldn't be so pissed, but I had these put in because I wanted LONG hair. My own hair isn't much shorted than these bonds. The fact that you get to keep using the same hair is great, unfortunately now I have all this hair that is 18" and I wanted at least 22", if not longer. I'm assuming that the older bonds (the 30 or so that had come out)were placed at the top of my head and the newer ones were put in lower when she did the maint. She also layered my hair the first time I had them put in and it was so long and pretty, now this time it's all one length and she didn't even do a clean up on the bottom (so it's all jagged on the bottom) probably because she new it would really look short if she touched the bottom. So, AGAIN I will have to put out more money for longer bonds (should I decide to keep these crazy things, is it really worth it?!?!? :-( ) I tried to put a stop payment on the check but she cashed it right away. This person also told me numerous times (4)that she had returned my phone calls and left messages on my cel, but for some reason there were no messages. Come on, I wasn't born yesterday! telling me that the reception was bad just doesn't get it, because if that were the case, you wouldn't have been able to leave a messeage. Needless to say, I need to find somebody I can trust. I was also stunned when she told me the cost of my maint ($600.00). I was told it would be $150.00 an hour and she would have somebody help her so it wouldn't take so long. It took 3 1/2 hours. Well, she never mentioned that it would be an extra $50.00 an hour to have somebody help her. I'm just FURIOUS! So in the last two weeks I have spent $800.00 on this hair and it doesn't even look good (length wise or quality). Oh boy! I could go on and on but I won't. Could anybody out there tell me what they are paying per bond? I know that she was splitting up alot of my bonds also which would also be another way of getting ripped off since I'm paying so much per bond and there getting split before I get there. Ok! I'm done with venting. Just a note to all the people out there who are installing these bonds (no matter what kind they are GL's, Hairlocs, etc..... We as customers are paying WAY too much for these in the first place and should not have to worry about somebody lying to us about lengths or quality or anything else. It's absolute BS and I think the people that are cheating their customers are rotten and have absolutely no morals or integrity. You guys know who you are and have to live with yourselves, it's just really really sad that we would spend so much money on our hair just to have it look prettier and then be cheated too. I think it makes me more sad than mad that somebody would do something like this to another person. Pretty pathetic people! I need to find somebody in the Inland Empire or Orange County area. If anybody has any info I would really appreciate it. Thanks for listening everybody!
I am located in Huntington Beach (Orange County). My prices are much lower than hair locs at $500 for a full. I also have 22'' hair in stock and I can get some colors in even longer lengths. E-mail me and I'll can send you some before and after photos and some more information.
I'm sorry you had such a bad time with hairlocs, but theyre unprofessional and WAY overpriced (seven to nine dollars a strand for 24 inch when I had them--just read the rest of these threads and the facts are clear).
You can get 32-inch hair from a few places, including hisandher.com (the cuticle hair is the very best, but it's expensive; the regular silky straight is good, too, and it's more affordable). Hairaddition.com also has 32 inch, but I don't think they're quite as good as hisandher.com (either company is fine, though). And try glamourhair.com, hairpiece.com, and drlocks.net (they usually don't have anything that long, but they almost always ahve 24 to 28 inch).
You should switch stylists right away and probably switch away from the hairlocs process, too. But be careful. If you wanted hairlocs in the first place I'm sure you were concerned about potential damage (too bad hairlocs doesn't live up to its "no damage" claims). But don't turn to great lengths or glue, youll only get more damage--go for braids, wefts, links, locks, or shrinks, and find a stylist who knows what theyre doing and will be honest with you. I see that Kristin replied to your post. I dont know her, but I know she posts here often. Maybe she can work with you to provide one of these methods with the superlong hair (btw, 32 inch is the longest i've seen--i have no clue where victoria gotti gets hers--they must be like 50 inches long!!!!).
Thanks so much for getting back to me so soon. I kind of want to stay with the hairlocs because I already have the hair and don't want to start over with another process. I tried Great Lengths and lost about half of my hair. Every time I lost a bond, (which was probably about 60 all together) it took all of my hair that it was attached to. At least I'm not having that problem with the Hairloc's, although I think Great Lengths has MUCH better quality hair. I really don't want to go any longer than 24" at the longest. As for Victoria Gotti. I read in a magazine article last week that she swears that she does not have extensions. She says it's all her hair. I used to have beautiful long thick hair myself until I was put on a medication last year and lost a ton of it. I stopped the medicine as soon as I found out what the problem was and I'm hoping that within a year or so I can forget about these damm extensions and have my own hair healthy and pretty again. Again, thanks for the reply. :-) Oh! I still need to call the girl that did my hair and chew her butt for putting in the 18" length instead of the 22". I measured them when I got home. Anyway, I don't know if I should really let her have it, or be nice about it and ask her "What were you thinking"? Any advice?

Unless you had something in writing saying you were to have the longer hair, it's her word against yours. Unfortunately she doesn't sound ethical enough to do what's right by you. And, she can always say she gave you the longer hair but you cut it later.
Please don't hesitate to measure the hair before it's installed. Ask for a measurement right there and have the stylist do it. If you ordered curly hair and it looks straight, don't take their word that it'll curl after it's wet, have them wet it right there and show you. If they take offense to stuff like this -- tough. It's your head, your money and your peace of mind.
Get ahold of Kristin. She does the microlink method too and can help you with the hair that you have. :)
go see my stylist Sand- www.hairlocs.info you will not be disapointed at all. she is in the inland empire and is very well know in the industry. Feel free to tell her Cait from the hair forum sent you.
Thanks girls for all the responses and suggestions. In response to AMM, how sad that you would need to measure your hair before they put it in. I guess I'm a little too trusting, but that won't be the case from now on. I have been screwed for the last time. I spoke with my hair girl last night and she just couldn't figure out how my hair could be shorter and said she would check the order form that she filled out. I said to her "There were about 6 or 7 bonds that were left over from my order", why don't you go home and measure them and I can guaranty you that they are 18"s. I'm done with her. She is supposed to call me back today to discuss it more but I'm sure I won't hear from her and I'm not even gonna waste my time calling her. She will just keep arguing the point and I just need to count my losses and move on. I think I will give Sand a call and see what she charges per pond since I'm gonna have to PURCHASE MORE HAIR if I want it to be the length I originally ordered. Thanks again! Wish me luck! because obviously I need it when it comes to hair extensions.

You can always contact the Better Business Authority in your state. Also, before going to your next stylist, check the registry for complaints. It's a horrible time you had, but you can help protect other consumers from this same sylist by filing a complaint. The BBB will also try to resolve the issue for you, and the stylist will think twice before she or he tries this on some other unsuspecting consumer. Good Luck. Remember, nothing ventured nothing gained.
Now I'm feeling like a real jerk for badmouthing the girl I've been having do my hairlocs. I really should have taken the problem up with her until everything was settled. I think I will just let these bonds grow out and have them taken out. It's just not worth the problems or the money. Good luck to those of you who will continue to wear them.

I really think that being emotional and venting about this isn''''t the answer in a public forum. I know of the stylist your are speaking of and I also believe I have spoken to you Lisa. You need to keep in contract with your stylist because she is not someone who is out to "screw" any of her. I know there are stylist who don''''t care about their clients enough to try to work things out with them. But in our industry we have a good idea of who those people are, and the stylists who you would think twice about accusations like these. I am really sorry but I just can''''t believe that you are presenting this situation fairly.

Furious has every right to vent on these boards--that's why they're called public forums. We're here to share our experiences, and many people have complained about hairlocs--Furious is not the first. Funny that "giamarie" and "not so furious" have the same IP address....
Your right Giamarie, I should have just tried harder to resolve the problem with her and not aired my frustration on this website, and for that I'm sorry. After re-reading my thread I realized I sounded pretty harsh but I was extremely upset because I have spent so much money on these extensions. I just can't get past the fact that I have measured the new bonds that were put in and they are 18" and she insists that they are 20". Well, I'm not gonna go round and round about it. And I'm upset because I walked out of this persons house with my hair looking really bad on the bottom. Why would she shape and layer my hair the first time and this time,well............... now my hair is all one length and at the very bottom (about a half inch) I have all these different lengths and it looks bad. Anyway, I really don't want to get into this anymore. I should never have posted anything on here and I'm sorry that I hurt this person because she and I did hit it off, and I realize that she did go out of her way and rescheduled appts to get me in sooner. I wasn't doing this to hurt anybody because as you can see I didn't list any names or locations, I just wrote it to vent the frustration I felt and still do feel every time I look at my hair in the mirror. I'm just unhappy with the outcome. The technician called me this morning and left a message and I felt horrible for hurting her but I feel justified in the frustration I feel.

Furious: You have absolutely every right to vent your emotions. It's a very sensitive issue. Don't apologize to anyone for your feelings. Also, I don't recall you mentioning the girl's name in any of your posts, so I wouldn't worry to much about it. I for one have no idea who you are talking about and I'm not sure how others do.
Giamarie: All of us have every right to express our emotions. If you find it offensive in any way then perhaps you should stay away from public forums. I personally am grateful to those who are willing to go public with their stories as a warning to those of us who are considering the process. I can't imagine that you have any authority to guarantee the work and ethics of anyone, but yourself.

Lisa, I know its disheartening to not have your expectations met and everyone gets caught up in the excitement when getting their hair done that its the perfect to time for miscommuncations, but when and you come here for advise, the good the bad and the ugly- you will find it here. This is defintely an arena where riled up people rile up others. Dont let it get the best of you.
Good luck with your stylist, I know you will be taken care of.

I am soooo sorry that had happened to you!!!! When I first started using hairLocs that happened to me! I was so upset!!!!!!! THe girl did the same thing to me. I have been getting my hair done by Constance Walsh in Newport Beach for the last 3 years. Salon number is: 949 646-9447 She has been doing them for 10 years and GUARENTEES HER WORK! She is also the only one that can get CAUCASION hair from the USA!!! Not asian hair that dryes out quickly. She is very cool. If someone messes up using Hairlocs she gives a huge discount and fixes the hair. She re-did my hair correctly and deeply apologized for a mess that she did not even do. Oh by the way, my extensions stay in for about 6 months. Till she takes them out! I have not lost one strand!!!!!!!Call her she's cool. 949 646-9447
