Definitely. I'll get some pics in about a month, when I take them all taken out and redo them with synth and shrinkies.
As far as NYC goes, I would say there's a great demand for everything here. I think extensions may still be bigger in L.A., but NYC's probably not too far behind, and the price of everything here is higher than it is virtually anywhere in the U.S. (of course, the cost of living--rent, utilities, and so forth--is astronomical, so you'd better be making good money doing hair here).
Some women (not me) pay $500 for highlights at the big salons (Garren, Bumble, Frieda, etc.), so extensions at that price seem like a real bargain. Market wise, it's probably a lot like L.A.; the "look" is maybe a bit different here, though. Overall, I think the way people look in NYC has gotten more conservative over the past decade or so. You used to see a lot of wild and crazy styles, but not so much anymore. L.A. style is (not surprisingly) longer and blonder; in NYC most women have highlights, and the hair seems to be "loosening up" a bit--more relaxed waves, rather than the pin-straight blowouts of a few years past.
$500 for high lites! that's almost my month's rent! yeah, I think curly hair will come back real soon... perms galore... hehe Frizz city NY is definitely a lot different Ohio! I'd be lost...
To put that in perspective, $500 is only a bit more than 1/4 of my rent--and my place is hardly luxurious at 500 square feet (hence the difficulty of living in NYC). :)
