lol, my husband is just getting comfortable with micro rings, if I asked him to try to braid extensions in his head might blow off, Ill just stick with micro rings, or shrinkies if I can get my tubing to shrink.

Hey Emma,

Trimco would be a good choice, too; the hair is good quality, inexpensive, and they even sell mixed bags (so if you want several colors, you don't have to order several different bags). The thing is, their hair only comes in straight, so if you want wavy, you'll have to look elsewhere. PH by the way, isn't all that expensive for shipping--nothing like what Dome charges. I don't know the length of Trimco offhand, but I imagine it would be long enough for whatever you want to do.

About the Dome heating tool, no--the hair is definitely not melted into your real hair. With the Dome method, your own hair is box-braided and the synth hair is then heat-sealed on itself. It's quite a complex process, usually requiring two people, so I would not recommend trying to do it yourself.

You can use Dome, Trimco, PH, or any other brand with microrings, shrinks, braids, whatever, so I would stick to those methods, if I were you.

:)

What about Trimco from Hairpolice? Ive heard good things about them and their in the states so shipping shouldnt be huge. Their site dosnt say how long the hair is tho.

Also I was just remembering that synth bulk hair is usually folded over. If you could unfold it without making a huge mess, you would have some seriously long hair.

I checked out the Dome site, I saw the heating tool they use. Is the hair just melted into your own or do they use some type of ring or something?

I've been playing around with it, but it's not actually in my head yet, so I can't predict how long it will last. Obviously, Dome has an excellent reputation.

That said, PlastikHaar also has a great reputation and would be more cost-effective. Why don't you try ordering from them?

:)

Have you tried your Dome hair yet? I just checked their website and $28.00 for hair and $23.00 for shipping..yikes..but if its good hair that will last for a while it might be worth it.

Yippie! Sounds good. The hair is quite nice. Like I said, it's a bit shiny (the blonde more so than the white for some reason), but I like it and I'm optimistic. I still need to play around with the stuff more to figure out how exactly I need to handle it.

Did you get the classic texture, too? (The texture is quite pretty, I think.)

Jenny, Bridget Boogiemama told me I would need 2 bags of Dome for my hair. I bought the same colors you did but I also bought a dark blonde for lowlights.

I have about 6 or 7 colors of prostyles and have done tons of streaks over the past few years and havent even come close to using up 1/10 of my supplies. Itll probably last another 5 years! Guess what ...I ordered 6 bags of plastikhaar. I guess I wont run out for awhile! And spent less than $100. Now thats amazing!

Im all for the IM thing LOL. I really dont know how many bags it would take. I have never fully opened one up I keep it bundled all up and only unwind it and snip out small strands for streaks. But today I brushed one out that I was working with so I could wind it back up neatly and it is ALOT of hair!

Excellent. That's a relief! I'd prefer not to cellophane my hair if I can avoid it. (God knows, I've already done enough to it....). :)

Well I only have funky colors of Prostyles so I really dont know what the comparison to natural colors really is like. But its shiney, not extremely shiney. But it looks fake to me, I think because its bright blue, neon green, neon orange, red, purple...etc! Everytime my daughter had had any of this in her hair people ask her if its real. They want to know if she dyed those streaks or if those streaks are fake. SO they obviously look like real hair. After the first wash or two they arent shiney anymore!

And by the way, I have no idea why I didn't think more about the precise quantity I'd need beforehand. Information overload, I think....

OK, I'm going to wash it a few times and see then. How many bags of ProStyles would it take you to do a full head, Sherrie? I have three bags of Dome here, which is actually a lot of hair, but they pack it up so tight, it's hard for me to tell....:)

Sherrie: How shiny is the ProStyles? (The woman on the phone today said the hair was less shiny than Dome.) :)

On the prostyles hair I do know that the shiny-ness will subside. Ive heard the same with plastikhaar that after a few washings the shiney-ness goes away.

Unfortunately, no. I have camera issues (due to my boyfriend losing the battery LOL), but what I received today was the Dome (I haven't gotten my PlastikHaar yet). Anyway, the Dome Classic looks similar to the 50mm PlastikHaar photos AMM posted, maybe a bit tighter of a wave (like the 28mm). I got the Light Blonde, which is basically like a 613 blonde, although I think I might need it a little lighter (so I bought a bag of white to mix in--which should be an adventure with bulk hair).

The texture and the colors are gorgeous and it feels lighter than human, although the strands look a bit thicker (which I like). My only concern is that it's a bit shiny. I might have to give myself a cellophane treatment to match it, 'cause my real hair is rather dull. I wonder if the sheen subsides a bit over time. Any opinions? :)
