shrinkies vs. great lengths

I don't know that I'm smart, oly--I've just been ripped off enough times now to take everything these hair companies say with a grain (ok, many grains) of salt.

Again, I do think the GLs hair is very good quality. Even though I hated the method, I never disliked the hair.

It's nice to hear that you're searching high and low to find the best methods. The extensions business can be very hard, imo, because there's so much information to wade through, so many shady companies, and every client's hair--and expectations--are different.

Anyway, good luck with the Shrinkies--I think you'll like them--and please keep up posted on how it goes. :)

Oly: Thanks for the info. on the GLs pricing; I assume that's direct from the company? Interesting.... I paid $1200 for my GLs hair (200 strands of 24 inch), which, according to your calculations, actually costs $780. (I knew I was getting screwed...and I paid an extra $1200 for the service....grrrrrrr).

As I'm sure you realize by now, you can definitely retip the GLs hair for Shrinkie application (I found some leftover GLs actually, and plan to do the same thing myself). I've always liked the GLs hair (as human hair goes), but I hate fusion, and the price is a lot to pay.

I've heard of people cutting the bonds down before, too, but only horizontally (because they're so long), not vertically. Your techinque sounds intriguing.

I have to agree that there's no way you can lift dark-brown Indian temple hair to 613 blonde without stripping it. The company says it uses the same method as is used for wool; however, they're not making black wool white by simply dipping it in color. I've also heard that it's chemically texturized and bleached, too.

the one thing i do know about the color process of GL is that they color it like you do wool or cotton. it is "dipped" for color.not stripped. therfor the cuticle is never opened and that is why it is so shinny and doesnt get dull.also why it doesnt tangle as much.
i am so excited about the thought of putting the GL together with shrinklinks.

I have had the great lenghts done 3 times and it was very expensive and the bonds were hard on my very thin fine hair. The extension hair was really great quality but of course for the price of the 3 sets of hair I could have bought a used car! I am looking for less expensive but good quality alternative. Is this the shrinkies method? Do you put these in yourself? And where and what kind of hair do you get? Any info from a shrinkie user would be great.

shrinklinks and fusion are not the same thing.

you could cut off or cut down the bond or snip it off to pre-tip the whole thing for shrinklinks.

why do you say each strand is really two? i dont understand that.

thats a good price for great lengths hair. but 12 is short. what do they charge for longer hair?

i checked the price per strand on GL and it comes to 2.20 for 12in. (but actually thats for 2 strands because you never use one ,its too heavy)
i know the quality is awesome and what i am hearing here is the technique is not.
would i be able to cut the tips off the hair and try them shrinkie style???
i wonder if anyone has tried that. am i crazy??
i am looking for the best natural hair that will stay on using the best bonding technique.seems to me like a marraige is in order here.

which lasts longer?shrinkie or greatlength?
