LOL I just answered this question in another thread...No LG wont melt and bond to your clients hair with heat. I tipped my own hair with LG and applied about a dozen with some heat shrink tubing and a very hot straightening iron and it didnt melt. I did get the adhesive from the tubing in my hair tho and had to use an oily remover to get it out.

Well, how much Liquid Gold are you putting on the tip? And, yes, it will certainly adhere to the client's hair. If you're heating the shrinkie enough to melt the inner adhesive (believe me, when you install, you can hear the distinct "crackle" of the tubing's adhesive), you're definitely heating it to the point the LQ will begin to respond.

I have tried tips with only LG and they come apart when you remove the shrinkie. How then will you reapply the same strand without putting it back together? If you plan on throwing away each strand of hair between shrinkie maintenance then it won't be a big deal but now you'll have to deal with shrinkie adhesive and LG removal.

Again, nail glue is only there to keep the tip of the hair strand from falling or spreading apart, it helps eliminate shedding, and it keeps Liquid Gold from adhering to yours and your client's hair.

Please, if you have the tools already, conduct the experiments.


PS: Can someone tell me why there seems to be such reluctance to using a tiny drop of nail glue on the tip? Is it fear of heat or just not wanting to do another step?

We're talking about Liquid Gold reacting and melting under the intense heat of a fusion wand. Liquid Gold doesn't have the same issues under the cold clamp of a microring. Two separate things here.

You realize Liquid Gold is being used to make stick hair, right?

If you don't want to be using stick hair for strand by strand application, put bulk hair inside the shrinkie and install it that way.

Voila! No glue at all to deal with.

Any type of glue that you use for pretipping is going to adhere to your hair to some extentwhen you heat them under the shrinkie. It isnt going to completely penetrate though all the strands of your hair like when doing fusion bonding though. The pretips will adhere a little and leave a small amount of residue when removing.

No, but almost.

When done correctly, the nail glue provides a total barrier between the shrinkie and the LG. I don't get LG residue on my hair at all. All I have to remove is shrinkie residue.

Additionally, the nail glue provides complete protection against LG adhering into the hair on removal.

It's all a matter of preference. Do the extra step of nail glue when you make the tip or do the extra work of getting Liquid Gold AND shrinkie residue off the hair during removal.

And if anyone wants to see a photo of a tip with nothing but LG on it and what a fusion wand can do through a shrinkie, let me know. Sizzle time, baby. The tip flattens, spreads and the LG melts.

AMM So when you remove the pretips ( that have been made with LG and nail glue) is the pretipped strand fully intact then? It doesnt come apart at all during removal? I havent used the nail glue yet on the LG tips (since I have only done experimenting to see if synthetic would melt under the shrinkie, I didnt go as far as putting the nailglue over the LG) I will be using the nail glue when I am ready to install them, it makes sense to go the extra step.

SWEET..... I like the idea that the nailglue keeps the tip intact upon removal...worth the extra step!
