Hey guys, I have seen that quite a few of you use wigs on occasion. I havent' had one in years, had some 3/4s a while back that were awesome. But my hair was longer, so it looked natural, as it is now, the sides are too short to blend. Anyway, I am really hesitant on how they look. I am planning on taking a trip to a local wig shop to do some try ons, but I wanted advice. I hate my hair SO much and since I decided on just diy extensions, it will be awhile before I can go that route. So wig's are my option for now.
Do synthetics really look ok and last alright? Are the lace fronts absurdly expensive, or are they reasonable (under 250) I can't find any on the wig sites I have found.
For the full wigs, should I stick to one with bangs? I would assume that it would be hard to have it really look natural without the bangs, if it isn't the lace front.
And lastly, I would love to see some pics of some of you with them on.
I checked out an ebay shop that someone on here recommended, and there were some fantastic styles. Most of the sites I have gone too are difficult. really get's old searching through dolly parton like styles to find something people under 45 would dare wear. Advice on brands or sites that specialize in "younger"/trendier styles?
Hmm...wigs are tricky. I have some synthetic ones that I wear, but I've had much more luck with the 3/4 kind myself.
My feeling is that if you don't want bangs, a lace-front is the only way to go. I just bought a wig without bangs that wasn't a lace-front and there's no way I'm ever going to wear it. I looks really ridiculous.
I am also looking into wigs myself, and I've been doing a lot of research. From what I gather, if you are not going to go with a lace front (quite $$ and a lot of maintenance), it is necessary to go with bangs, and also a mono top to duplicate the appearance of hair growing out of the scalp. There are plenty of youthful styles out there, I have my eye on this one in particular: http://www.onthetop.com/wigpage.asp/category_Amore+Designer+Series/productid_Stevie
It seems that it is a lot of trial and error with wigs, and the synth fiber is great and natural in some wigs and not others, and the same goes for human hair. Some good brands that include some trendier styles are Rene of Paris, Wig Pro, TressAllure and Revlon. And you can get a nice mono top synthetic wig for under $250.

thank you! yes, that one is great. looks very natural. I have seen some great ones, but they were all very "full" and looked so fake. that on is great.
these are a few of the wigs Ive bought and the sellers that Ive used. The wigs come looking exactly the way you see them in the picture and very easy to care for. Definetely get one with bangs and wear a wig cap, it makes it much more comfortable and makes the wig more stable. Ive worn mine in strong winds and never had them come off.
SHE human hair blend, 18", #4 with Supertape.

Oooh, lots of pretty wigs out there! There's one problem for me with the bangs issue. If I go with a wig with bangs, I have to wear it every day, because my own hair is too thin to have bangs that look half way decent. So of course people will know something's up if I walk around with bangs one day, and none the next.
I also had jennyhairsense bookmarked as a favorite seller and have looked at those wigs many times. Funny how we all gravitated to that one.
Emma, you like her stuff? You've tried it? That would be awesome to have one just for fun wear. I've never actually seriously considered wearing one but hers look incredible.
OMG!!! This is me!!! except my hair is about 5 inches shorter. It is exactly how I wear my hair and my curls. Do they just sell the bottom part so I can use it as a clip-on - LOL Beautiful wigs though.
