Hi
I am newbie and would welcome anyone who can help me! I want to know if there is anywhere on the net or any of you guys who can help me. I want to apply my own hair extensions single strand/fusion method and wondered if there was a step by step guide that could help me out.

Would welcome any easy instructions to follow.

I have been on that link and its not showing me anything, I was hoping for pics step by step anymore that you can link me to and I would also like to see other methods besides single strand bonding. If you can help me in anyway I would really appreciate it.

Cheers

here are two threads that you may find helpful. If you have any specific questions about a particular method just ask. Also if you tell us what your natural hair is like, condition, length texture etc...we may be able to give a little more specific direction on the different methods!

Lots of information and reading here!

Hi
Many thanks for the very quick reply this site is fantastic!!

I have very thick hair which is in excellent condition, I have just had it coloured and would like to apply hair extensions but not sure which method is the best for my hair. It is shoulder length and I would just like to add about six inches or so in length to give it a little bit of a change. My hair is naturally curly so when it is washed and I leave it to dry naturally it falls into mermaid curls. I am looking for an easy method as my friend and I are going to attempt to do it. Any ideas which would be the best method to do?

Cheers

well since your hair is healthy you have many options! For a first time DIYer I would suggest the extendtubes or the shrinkies. They are the easy to learn and simple to do. I like the shrinkies, they are simple and the bond is so tiny. The heatwand is $99 and a jar of shrinkies is$30, from doc locks. Then of course what ever hair you decide to use on top of that. If cost is a factor the extendtubes from hairpiece.com are only $25 for the rings and hook, the only other thing youd need are pliers. Some people have a issue with them being a bit more visable, but since you have thick hair, this shouldnt be an issue for you!

I just wanted to know when doing strand by strand hair extensions. When you start from the nape of the neck upwards do you do a row then leave a row of hair down or work on the next row leaving no hair down. And is this the method all the way up until you feel there is enough hair to blend into your own hair or what is the procedure.

I would be really grateful, I am practicing on a mannequin head at present.

Well, first of all, don't start at the nape of the neck--start at least 1/2 inch up from the bottom hairline (an inch would be even better).

Beyond that, whether you want to put all the hair in extensions or leave some real hair loose between the bonds really depends on the look you're going for. It's up to you.

Good luck! :)

Well, it would depend on a few factors. If your hair is quite short, I'd put almost all of the hair in the bonds. If your hair is longer and you're looking for a more natural look, you might want to leave some hair in between the rows. Basically, the more bonds you do, the thicker the end result will be, so again, it depends on what you want. If you want a lot of layers, sometimes it's best to do all the hair in bonds so you have more to work with, so to speak.

Hope that helps! :)
