Stock hand tied hair usually comes in 11" wide. If it's custom made you can measure your head from ear to ear and get the right width for you, also the right thickness.
Jenny, you're a jewel. It's kind of you to help us all so much. You know a whole lot more about hair extensions than most hairdresser!! I'm still learning stuff from you.

Here's the hair I got: http://hisandher.com/store/shop_product.asp?main=MAIN_001&sub=SUB_015&pro=7 in color #1 (jet black). I got the HWC (hand-tied), but only because the hair is longer. In my case (I'm not doing tracks or clips, but individuals), the kind of weft I use is immaterial. I suppose it's labeled 26-28. I didn't measure it, but I remember it being quite long, like 28. If you really need 30", you'll need to go with something else then.

If you're planning on doing clips with MetalGirl's technique (folding the wefts over and sewing with a zigzag stitch), then get hand-tied, if possible. Just be aware that if you cut the weft, it will unravel, whereas machine-tied will not.

:)

when you got the his and her cuticle hair was it exactly 28 inches long? Did you get the hand weft or machine weft? I'm still a little confused with that. Both are on tracks right?

I'm not sure if I specified exactly which brands I'd used before in the longer lengths, so here goes (all silky straight, by the way):

HisAndHer Cuticle Hair
28 inch, Black: Top-quality hair, shiny, tangle-free, durable--best hair I've ever used.
Hairaddition Silky Straight by Sepia
32 inch, Pale Blonde: Substandard quality, too thin, not durable, tangled like crazy.
Hairaddition Italian Straight by Wig Pro
32 inch, Pale Blonde: A bit better than Sepia's perhaps, but not much better.

Keep in mind that you will not necessarily have the same results. A lot depends on the batch and colors you get. I believe you want black, which should help a bit with the quality level.

Good luck! :)

thank you. I decided to get the longer hair because I like really long hair. :) and I think I might just get straight hair because I ordered a waving iron so I can just wave the extensions and my hair so that the wave will be the same and it will blend in with my hair well. Thanks for your help.

Hi Amy,

I remember your asking me this about a month ago, and I believe you thought that a shorter length (22-24 inch) might be long enough for you. You would have more options with a 22-24 length, as 28-30-inch is very hard to find. I also remember that you were opposed to synth, which makes the options even narrower. For what you want, you must get machine-tied weft, rather than hand-tied. That's critical.

For really long hair, try hisandher.com or hairaddition.com; if you're willing to go a bit shorter, try glamourhair.com, hairpiece.com, or Bohyme hair at ebonyline.com.

Beyond that, the recommendations I gave you about a month ago are still the recommendations I would make now. You can find them here:

Good luck! :)

Jenny, I am still having a hard time choosing what to go with as far as 28-30 inch extensions. I want the best quality I can get, in wefts so I can sew on clips to them. They can either be wavy or straight. What have you tried as far as brands that may carry extra long extensions, and what do you think was the best quality?
Also, do you have any pics of you in your extensions?
