It looks like that is hand tied wefts. They are usually about 10 inch sections several in a bundle. My understanding is you cant cut these or they will unravel. Ive never used handtied so hopefully someone who has used them can better answer your question
They have two options there: WC and HWC. If you intend to cut it, you must get WC (machine weft); the HWC (hand-tied weft) will fall apart if you cut it. :)
Yes this haie is Handtied and could have clips added. I really like these track because they are extremely small and are very, very flat to the scalp when sewing or bonding it. If you are planning to sew it in make sure the the cornrow is tiny so that it will be flat as possibe.
You don't want to cut hand tied wefts. Instead of cutting them, you want to fold them over to make it the length you need.
I make all my clip in extensions out of hand tied wefts because the hair is better quality and doesn't shed at all. I sew 3 or sometimes 4 of them together with a zig zag stitch on my sewing machine and then sew the clips on.
My clip ons that I am wearing currently are made out of 8 ounces of hand tied hair, 4 tracks that are each 12" wide. To make them 12" wide (hand tied is only usually 10" wide) I stagger the pieces so it ends up measuring 12" wide. That way it comes closer to my hairline in the front and gives me more hair that falls forward for doing face framing layers.
Thanks. That might be something that would be good in the 101 thread. A good turorial on making your own clip ins might help alot of people! Or is there already one there?
That's a good idea, Sher. In fact, it might be good to combine it with some of the other info. MetalGirl's shared in the past about clip-ins, too. Only problem is, I'm not sure if I can edit that thread now, since it's been locked. I wrote to the admin about it (above) so we'll see.... :)
Thats why I posted in the other magnet that it would be good to give someone the abilility to be a moderator, or the ability to edit, since the information will change from time to time and new info will need to be added and old info deleted at times. Jenny....guess who would be good candidate for that job.....bet you can guess!
Hmmm...don't know if I can handle another job LOL, but I would like to create a FAQs thread--sort of a master thread that links off to all the pertinent threads on the subject. That way, everything would be cataloged by subject, and it could be updated once a week or so. This is assuming that they don't add some functionality when they upgrade that allows us to categorize by subject. I don't think it would take very long. I mentioned it in my post to Karen (above), but she hasn't responded yet.
Theoretically, it would be cool to create a FAQs thread that answers questions in simple paragraph form, but since there are so many varying opinions on so many subjects, simple answers can sometimes be misleading. This way, everyone could read through all of the pertinent responses and make their decisions accordingly. :)
