i called and talked to a lady from remi bohyme and she said that the hair is stripped so it doesn't have a cuticle anymore and then put silicone on top to make it shiny.

I heard that once hair is stripped of its cuticle, it is rough and dry, and that the silicone coating only makes it smooth and nice until you wash it and it comes out and becomes dry.

So.... is beauty supply store stripped of its cuticle? is that why it is nice and soft when you first buy it and then when you wash it is is all tangly and dry?

Is it best to get hair that has a cuticle?

huh I couldve sworn the whole point of remi or boyme was that it still had it's cuticle and was going all in the same direction, so it wasn't a problem.

oh well newbie here, so i get confused on a lot of it. dont know sweetie.

Yes that is true about Bohyme. And the have the 'remi' trademark, which is not the same as 'remy'. I think Bohyme has there own process of removing the cuticle in a different way or something. ( Im not sure about this though) The term remy is used pretty loosely these days. Bohyme is a much higher quality than BSS quality hair and if taken care of will last quite a while. Kristin uses it and absolutely raves about the quality. Most of the stuff from BSS is a low quality hair that looks pretty at first but the majority of it will become crappy and tangly pretty darn fast. On occassion you may find a decent quality hair in BSS but generally its pretty low end stuff!
