ok, after brushing for the 12th time in an hour Ive decided these things need to come out.
I reheat the shrinkie with my flat iron, the extension slides right out like melted butter but the shrinkie is being stubborn. Its like welded to my hair. I have to leave the flat iron on the shrinkie for about 30 seconds then try to pull it out of my hair and Im burning my fingers in the process.
There has to be an easier way to do this.
If I remove all the extensions then could I use some type of oily remover to budge the shrinkie out??????
I am sorry sweetie. I can't be of help, hope someoen has some advice that works for you.
Did you use a flat iron, or the doc loc heat clamp? If so do you think it isn't gettin hot enough or is the heating uneven, since it doesn't wrap around it like the heat clamp?
Also, I was wondering how long the shrinkies have to be in before you can take them out, does the hold break down a little after a while? Is it just because they have only been in a very short time?
I know it has to suck, I am so hyped up and after the big investment of time and money, I can only imagine how dissapointed you are
I have no idea what the problem is since this is my first experience with shrinkies. I just know that I wont be doing them again. Out of all of the extension methods I have tried, this is--hands down--the most difficult take out Ive ever done and its leaving me with the most damage.

I haven't had personal experience with shrinkies, but I think I remember reading somewhere that you leave the heat clamp on them while sliding them out? Maybe that will work for you. I hope so anyway!
From what I can tell of the uneven look of the shrinkie, they were not heated uniformly at the time of application. When mine are removed, they are tight little balls that are not so uneven.
It doesn't look that way to me at all based on almost 6 months of shrinkie use myself. They totally look like they are not heated all the way. I can tell by the ends alone. When they don't heat enough, they pull at the sides of the hair.
do you think it has anything to do with the kind of glue you used to tip the hair? Also, are you using the veggy oil to loosen the bond so it slips out easier?

A friend of mine came over to help me and she said it seemed like my flat iron got hotter on one side than the other. We had better luck removing them when she heated the shrinkie then turned the flat iron over and heated the other side.
My head hurts and Ive got alot of damage so I wont be doing extensions for a while.
I will give the rest of the shrinkies I have left to anyone who wants them for $10 plus shipping. I'm not sure how many are left, I'll count them later and let you know, I doubt I used but 130-150 of them.
Let me know through bmail, first come first served.
Yikes, Emma...I'm sorry to hear about this. Did they continue to pull out your own hair when your friend heated them, or were you still having problems getting them out? :)
If it's any consolation, Emma, which I know it's not, that's EXACTLY EXACTLY what happens to me. Takes out hair every time and everything else you described. Which I know is no consolation. But....we must be doing something not right if other people don't have this same trouble. AMM- do you lose any hair when you take your shrinkies out? Kalika? Sherrie? Other hardcore shrinkie users? Or is this just the way it is with shrinkie removal?
I third that, ONLY USE A DOUBLE SIDED SHRINKIE TOOL...lol
Im in no way poo-pooing shrinkies, I still think their great and have awesome potential, theyre just not for me.
It continued to hurt and pull out my hair. When the last shrinkie was finally removed I thought YAH but then I couldnt get the residue out. Took me another 2 hours and much more hair loss to finally get it all out. I dont think the residue was glue. I think it was melted plastic. I tried everything I had on hand, conditioner, latex oil remover, shine spray, even veggie oil and the stuff would not budge.
I just went to ebay and ordered a new wig so all is not a total loss. Im going to give my poor head a looooooooong break.
Oh and Ive already made contact with someone that wants my shrinkies.
Hmm...this is just a thought, but perhaps the problem is not so much in the heating than in the rolling technique. I'm still a little shaky on my shrinkie use too (my results have been a bit inconsistent). I initally thought it was because I didn't heat some of them enough, which may still be the case, but now (and from looking at Emma's pics), I am wondering if we're not taking enough time to roll them between the fingers after the heat is applied.
Emma and Syren, how did you roll them into place? For me, some of them formed very, very well, and others not so well, and I think it may have something to do with the fact that I didn't really roll them down enough (because the shrinks are quite hot, of course).

It sounds like you are heating the shrinkie then unclamping, and then trying to pull it out with your fingers? You should be holding the iron on there clamped snuggly and then gently pull down (still clamped) sliding the shrinkie and hair strand off all at once. Heck with my flatiron on high with turbo on, the shrinkie sometimes rolls up all falls right off the hair.
