Here are the pinchbraid pics. They look a little funky cause I haven't separated the hair in a perfect row (and need to dye my roots), but this should give you a basic idea of what they look like.

As you can see, not all of my hair is braided up in them, but most of it is. :)

Hey Jenny, could only see the 1st pic, and I think the work looks freakin awesome!

It looks like a weaving technique...
It is what it is...

Thanks Bridget,

I got them done at a salon--there's no way I could do them myself, especially to the back of my head.

If you're interested in learning the technique (the pinchbraid/Hairpolice method), Rae has a tutorial here: http://www.hairalchemy.com/ (click on “Loose” and you'll find the link).

The patterns and sectioning you use to apply them are pretty much the same as any strand method.

:)

I had pinch braids, twice.

They just did not work for me. Sometime soon I'll upload the scary photos.

Hey Jenny, do you mind if I add those pictures to my pinch braid tutorial?

Oh yeah, and I'd like to steal one or two of you from the front too if that's ok.

Hi all:

I'll be posting pics with both shrinkies method and dome method (which is a braiding method that has a heat seal). I won't have them til the end of the week tho. . .

Jenny - You hair looks so gorgeous; those little braids are beautiful!!

Rose

Was it the same person who put the pinchbraids in both times?

I tried to put a pinchbraid streak in once. I found that using the first method, it would fall right out, but if I divided up the hair according to the second method on the hairalchemy website, it would stay securely. It probably just has to do with your hair type, but your extensionist should have been able to do it right.

One other thing I should've mentioned: These are the braids after 8 days of wear. Not that my hair's grown inches in a week or anything, but the braids are a bit tighter when they're freshly installed. (Pinchbraids tend to loosen up rather quickly.) :)

Thanks so much for the pictures!

It's hard to tell from a photo, but I would guess you natural hair is a level 7-8. Now, with different hair color companies sometimes thier color charts are different. For example, in Matrix Socolor, a level 6 light brown translates to a level 4 in Scruples.

You natural color looks like a neutral to ashy dark blond.

Again, it's hard to tell from the picture.

Thanks, Metalgirl. That's about what I thought.

I was mainly asking because my boyfriend is convinced my hair is really dark brown. I have no idea why, but....

Many men do not see or interpret colors as well as women do. My ex-father-in-law was red/green colorblind. My ex-husband was not colorblind, but he couldn't pick out a matching can of spray paint to save his life, even if the car was right there. He would bring me and I could do it within the shop without looking at the car. Go figure.

Wow, how does it blend so damn well with your real hair, Jenny? I know (thought) you said your hair up top was very short from the breakage, but the pics i have seen before look so damn good, I don't understand how braids that large are covered up with your real hair.

Seriously. It is NOT in good shape; it's terrible, especially on the top. I do a lot of hairspraying and careful (strategic) combing to cover up the braids (this has been necessary with every extensions method I've had, actually). I'll definitely post some pics sometime that show you exactly what my hair on the top looks like, or better yet, with no extensions at all (ugghhh....). Believe me, it aint pretty--lol! :)

The reason I ask is because my hair is gettin longer every day, up top, and I am thinking i will be able to not have to go to the roots with the shrinkies, if I am willing to "style" it to hide the extensions. If yours is as bad as you say, and so thin, I may be in luck *crosses fingers*

anyhoo, yeah would love to see more pics of it when you haven't fixed it to hide the braids.

Definitely. I'll post some with the next batch, so you can get an idea.

From the looks of it, your hair will be fine for extensions (if I'm recalling your photos correctly). It was a bit short, but it's growing, and it looks like it's in good condition. With some careful placement, I really don't think you'd have any problems. Remember, it's the length on the top, rather than the bottom, that will ultimately be more important. And even if you do have short hair, if it's fairly thick (like Kalika's) you can go pretty close to the parts without much problem. For thin, "flat" hair (like mine), I would recommend staying a little further away from the part though. :)
