QuoteReplyTopic: me having a ***** again........ Posted: February 21 2005 at 9:02am
you all will be thinking "here she goes again" as i'm always *****ing about something or other.....so here goes. When I do my extensions (box braid method with synth) I like to have alot of hair when im done (both in length and thickness-what's the point in doing it if it aint dramatic!) and I am sick of people (boyfriend and friends) telling me I should stop putting so much hair in and that I should cut it shorter...Does anyone out there empathise with me or am I just mad?.

I'm completely with you: The more hair, the better! Especially with extensions, if you don't install enough hair (at least on me), it can look kind of stringy and sparse. Yuk! I do think less can be more for people who already have pretty long, full hair, though. :)
I'm sooo glad someone agrees....my natural hair is shoulder length/very thick curls which I str8en and in order to get a good blend I need to put in tons of hair.....big porno hair rocks!!!

lol yes, porno/stripper hair is the only way to go!!
When long, I liked mine with a wave, andlayers, and I thought it was so sexy. My hubby (then boyfriend) wanted it straight and one length. BORING lol
I have been wanting to try it lately though, so looking for a wig such as he likes, but yes, big hair just feels so much more comfortable on me. I hate when it lays flat to my head.
Also, yeah, other peoples opinions can be a bit of a pain in the ass. Everyone I mention it to gives me the "your hair is fine" routine, but that isn't what it's about. It is what WE like and what WE want. I simply, also, just love the idea of being able to have fun with extensions. One months short, next long, maybe play with braids over the summer. Fun stufff!
i agree! big and full - WHY go through the effort for short hair??? my hubby actually HATES the extensions... but that is a whole different story - i LOVE THEM!!!!! oCTAVIA

I love a lot of sexy hair! I will always wear at least 8 ounces of extension hair. People sometimes stop me when I'm out and comment on how long, thick and pretty my hair is!
I am sick of people (boyfriend and friends) telling me I should stop putting so much hair in and that I should cut it shorter...Does anyone out there empathise with me or am I just mad?.
Tell them to mind their own d*** business! They're just jealous. Nobody knows how enpowering it is to have a gorgeous mane, till they've experienced it for themselves. The care and maintenance of these lucious long locks is not for the timid or weak. They're just trying to bring you down. Be strong!!
I cut my hair once to a 3" length (I was 7 months pregnant and out of my mind.) and my husband was supportive, but crushed. NEVER again!!! VIVA LA HAIR!!!!!!!

Yes, "Go big or stay home". One of the HUGE problems I've been having is, since Great Lengths got SO SO expensive I wasn't able to put all the hair in that I REALLY NEED, so my hair ended up kinda stringy looking. And it still wasn't cheap!!
Right now I have this bizarre length hair (I had to cut it, even though it has extensions, because there simply was NOT enough hair to have the long hair look good). And if you want long layers. . .the ONLY way to do this is with a TON of hair!!
SO ANYWAY - this is me with my current (crappy) human hair extensions. . .they are all coming out tomorrow in prep for my new headful of synth hair.!!
I will keep you posted and post my new pics next week!
Fina, you're gorgeous, and the hair looks great on you. I know you've been having aggravation with the extensions, but you'd certainly never know it from your photo! :)
Thanks Jenny. . .but for all of the $$ I've spent on it, I should LOVE it!!
Also the extensions that are in right now are partially OK partially not. I like the Glamour Hair but not the Hairpiece.com hair, AND, as I said, I simply don't have enough of it in, AND it comes out on a *daily* basis.
I'm going to try the synth -- I'm actually looking *forward* to the shine. The hair I have in right now is just plain DULL no matter what I do to it, AND it doesn't hold much of a curl AND it separates.
I was thinking of that when I read your post about what your bf said -- that the hair you have in right now still looks better than any human hair you've had. . .I suspect this is going to be the case with me. I had GORGEOUS GL hair ONCE -- I paid $2500 for it and 3 months later it was all gone. Since then since I've "only" been paying $1100-$1600 the hair hasn't been as long nor has there been enough.
Anyway thanks for all the info you shared -- I'm right behind ya -- off to Atlanta on Thursday morning then 3 months of cold showers, not washing my hair, and never heat-styling it. LOL!!
I have to say, I'm actually having fun figuring this hair out. I'm thinking of this first month as a trial run, and if I fry the hair, it's really fine: I'll just have more installed and be more careful next time. (I would never feel that way about human hair, for obvious reasons.)
I also think the shine has subsided a lot--it's not dull or anything, but it looks a lot more "real" than it did when it was first installed.
