Great Lengths Video here

I think that's pretty cool. It's a good idea to have a video that shows the process so clients can get a better idea of how it works.

I have to say, though, those bonds are tiny--very unlike the Great Lengths bonds I had, which were much bigger. I'm assuming this stylist splices the bonds in half or thirds, as many GLs stylists do, to get such a small, seamless look.

Yup. You're right!

I'm thinking it was done this way just so the viewer can see the process better--I can't imagine that someone wouldn't put them that far away from the scalp during an actual install (the client would need maintenance in a month--lol).

Jenny, That's what I was thinking. I wonder if your hunch is right, or if this is the way they train their stylists at GL? I've been pondering a lot lately about the fact that when you install the extension strand close to the scalp it creates a lot of tension or pulling at the roots of the clients hair. I know that the farther away from the scalp you go the quicker maintenance will be required, but at the cost of pulling out hair at the roots...well, you get my drift. Any GL'ers out there wish to comment on the video?

Well, I can only comment on the stylist who put mine in, but I would definitely say they were placed closer to the scalp than they were in that video. I think they were just about as close as any other fusion install I've seen, no different really. And although I had damage on removal, it wasn't because the installation was too tight. It was simply a matter of the glue removal. In fact, I don't think I've ever had a problem with any method because the attachments were too close to the scalp. Although I've heard of this happening to other people.

As far as the bond size, it's my understanding that many GLs stylists are trained to cut the bond in half or thirds, creating two to three bonds, which results in a more undectable look and (I've heard) less damage.

Yes they are cut.I find when they are cut that small they last longer and feel nicer to the touch.I hate when they are so huge and bulky,they feel horrible.I cut my bonds the same way as in the video.The pplication was definitly way down there no question about it,They are suppose to be a little higher.I guess like maybe it was done for observing.But all in all the idea of a video of the process is a fantastic idea for a website,I agree...I am in the process of making a website.I have been taking some pictures of my clients and am anxious to put them on a website,Hopefully I'll be done very soon!

For sure. Everyone who has ever come in contact with GL hair has said that.
