I decided to go ahead and start a new thread here. Here are some links to before/after photos of Katie's hair. Maybe they are a little better than what's been posted.

This "new" hairstyle is what I call a safe move for style overdue on a TV anchor wanting a change.
It's different but I think that it definitely conveys that there is a lack of imagination on behalf of the shows stylists. Not to mention that her and Deborah Norville now have the exact same hairstyle. But maybe that was the idea after all?
I agree that for the most part this thread is much ado about nothing.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the new cut. I really though the only thing she needed to do to the old, longer version was to add bangs. Instead, she knocked a good 3 or 4 inches off, inexplicably removing virtually all of the layering on the ends, and left the bangs long. Basically, the exact opposite of what I thought she SHOULD have done.
The fact that she cut it is only moderately surprising, since, looking back at some old pictures, it appears that it had gotten to it's longest point ever since she has grown it out. I'm just surprised she cut that much. It's almost like she letting her bangs grow and trying to get it to one length...which would be a terrible idea.
Anyway, you can debate on how "significant" of a cut it was or wasnt, but you can't tell me that this...
JF, I surely won't tell you! She had just enough chopped to ensure that no one could possibly mistake it for being flirtaceous or sexy. Very "professional" looking now, i.e., mundane. Bob

It looks like she's had that head tilt to the left thing so long her lip is starting to sag on that side too.. she cut her hair because her mother said "do something about that hair". I'm sure at some point her mother told her to sit up straight too?
the first morning with her new do, she made 2 comments with in about 5 minutes about "getting rid of all that hair" one was her mom and I sorry but I can't remember the other.

Played hookie from work and saw Katie for the first time in a while. She looked great..It looked shorter than I remember. Above the shoulder..stright..side part..no bangs. curled under..very hot. Anne needs a cut though

Funny, but I never even noticed Anne Curry until she started growing. I saw her last year on Leno, and she said that her mom, while very proud of her, was puzzled why Anne wanted to look "like a man" with the short hair. After her mother died, Anne decided to follow her advice, and she declared, "Mom, you were right!" I heartily agree with her dearly departed. Bob
