Actually, Kramer, I think you misquoted me. What I wrote was "Obviously I THINK it's an improvement," i.e. since my screen name is "Curlyfan" it stands to reason I'd like curls! It's only my opinion, and is written that way. And you'll notice I went on to say how I think her curly style isn't quite working even for me.
Still, in defense of Katie, I'm thrilled that she's finally experimenting with a style that brings body, volume, bounce, and a little fun to her hair, even if it isn't done perfectly. I hope she continues, and would love to see her end up with a layered, banged, shorter style that complements better what she's trying to do.
All in my humble opinion, of course. :-) Happy holidays everyone -
If you watched the show, she looked even worse today. Obviously.
Well, yeah. She did.
As curlyfan pointed out, her current cut just doesn't lend itself to curling well. I do admire her for trying to do something different, but I'm amazed that, given the progressively more disastrous results, that she and the TODAY stylist are letting her go on air with some of those looks. Especially today.
If Katie still had her long layered 'do from earlier this fall (before she cut it back to her shoulders) or the layered, flippy, banged 'do she had at the beginning of the year (one of my favorites), the curls would be working MUCH better. I'm am really baffled as to what style she's trying to acheive on a daily basis with her hair these days.
Oh, and she still REALLY needs bangs.

P.S. Anyone notice how good Ann Curry looked this morning with her Angelina Jolie like swept back style? And can anyone tell me where they saw that she's cutting her hair in January of 2005? 'Cause I'd guess it would be of '06 so she wouldn't have to get scalped to get 10 inches for LoL.
3 pm is simultaneously too late and too early to start anything.

Same style today. Either she got a perm or is enamored of the set of hot rollers she got for Christmas. Ugh. At least brush it out instead of looking as though she just took the rollers out, but style is still way too full for her face shape.

The link above mentions that Ann is growing her hair out for LOL. It does not mention the January date. So I have no idea if that is right or not. I think if she waited until about May that she would be able to give a 10 inch donation and still have some length left afterward.

Or could LOL just thrown her name out there? Just to say she is doing it for them? Just to get others to give?

I believe that you are pretty close to the mark Mike, I believe that Ann will get a haircut, but judging by her current length, LOL, according to their guidelines, won't be able to use much. Maybe she wants to give them some publicity....
If this site is any indication, Ann, the Today Show and NBC will get more attention for Ann's haircut than LOL will. She'll probably do it during Sweeps week. Her hair looks so nice at the beginning of the show, but often looks so crappy at the end of it. Can someone -- anyone -- please outlaw the hair tuck behind the ear look? Does that work for anyone?

I definitely agree with you here Kramer. I'm SO tired of seeing women tucking their hair behind the ears, like their hair is just a nuisance to them. I don't think it looks flattering at all. If women have a style which irritates them so much that they're forced to tuck their hair away, maybe it's an indication they should try a shorter or more layered style so their hair doesn't fall in their face so much?
So there you go, Kramer - we agree on something!
Happy New Year all -

I agree that having the hair permanently tucked behind the ear is getting old... but that said, it should also be stated that the ear tuck itself -- the actual act of tucking the hair back -- is one of the more flirty things a girl can do, especially if she has cute ears and a nice neck.
In reality, TV news talking heads of the female persuasion put their hair behind their ear either to get it the heck out of the way or out of nervous habit, certainly not to flirt with the public or even because it's the style they choose.
Here is a rare photo of Campbell Brown without her hair tucked behind her ear. I think she looks much better this way:
