What have you been smoking? Those are definately extensions. Go to http://www.wireimage.com and search for Halle Berry. You will see that two years ago her hair was her "trademark" short, short cut (1 to 3 inches long, at most). There is no way that her hair could grow the 18 to 20 inches in two years that you claim.

You are right, growth rate is not an exact science, but it does average 6 to 7 inches a year. 2 years = 12 to 14 inches. Halle's hair was much longer than that. Possible? Yes. Probable? No, definately not.

If you go to wireimage and search on Halle Berry and go to page 15 you can see one photo that shows her hair length very well. She had appeared at some awards show in Oct. with curly hair that I thought was all her real hair and no extensions but I wasn't positive. However there is one photo of her from a Jan tsunami relief show. Her hair is still curly and is basically shoulder length. It looks some shorter than the photos from Oct. which makes me think that there were extensions still in at that point.
The bottom line though is that the straightened hair she is now wearing is mainly extensions. Her hair is way too long for it to be real.
Halle's hair has basically been growing since the Oscars in March of 2003. Since then she's worn wigs, extenstions of various lengths, and, periodically, her own natural hair. The tsunami relief special was an example of Halle's current actual length. Curly, it would fall on or just below her shoulders. Straightened, it would be probably be a few inches below (based on the 12 inches or so of growth she should have had from the pixie).
I agree that the really long straight hair is at least partially fake, but there should be quite a bit of Halle's in there too. And I'm still thinking that this change to straight of late may have something to do with "Nappily Ever After", since that's a key plot point of the book/movie.

Ive seen her look better than oscar night....her dress made her look weird shaped and i swear that wasnt her real hair.....but she didnt look that good at all oscar night.....
Here she is on March 3, publicising "Their Eyes were Watching God". I'm sure her real hair is supplemented here as it is several inches longer than at the oscars and looks much more luxuriant at the ends.
