QuoteReplyTopic: bad perm Posted: November 27 2001 at 7:48am
Hello, I am hoping someone here can help me! I got a perm from the JC Penneys hair salon on Oct. 2, 2001. The perm did not hold so I called the store and they said to come back in. Well I went in again on Oct. 11, 2001 and they permed my whole head again, and then a third time that same day. I payed $100 for my perm. Within a week my hair began to fall out and I now have a spot right in the front of my head that is beginning to grow back... and I have these awful spikes that you can`t help but notice. I am only 18 - and having a lot of problems still. My hair was so pretty before this perm. Now I have curl in the back of my hair... but NONE in the front, and it is impossible to leave my hair down, so it always has to be pulled back. They did give me my money back. And gave me some Biolage shampoo and conditioner. I have gone in for 2 conditioning treatments - but my hair is STILL falling out. Is there anything else I can do? I don`t think I would have much luck in court since I already got my money back... but this is AWFUL. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Thank you, *Mariah*

So sorry to hear about your bad experience. The good news is that this too shall pass. Be patient. Your hair will return to it`s former glory as soon as it recovers from the chemical assault. It sounds like your hair has been overprocessed. Conditioning treatments are definitely a good thing as long as they don`t involve heat. Heat is the LAST thing your hair needs right now. If you MUST blow dry, use the lowest setting, keep it at least 6 inches from your hair, and keep it moving. I wouldn`t recommend hot rollers until your hair improves. You might consider Monoi Oil as a conditioning treatment (some health food stores carry it and it is available on line from several sources - I use the one from the Long Hair Lovers site). I just recently started using it on dry, damaged hair and have gotten excellent results. Hang in there, Mariah, it will get better.
