Believe me, we have seen it all. This is the best way to fix this problem. You have layered pigment onto pigment and you cannot fix this yourself without totally frying your hair.
Please go to the salon and let us know how it turned out.

Medium ash brown is dark, so it should cover. It depends how apt your hair is to take on anoither chemicalat this point. I hope itcovers. Also, it might not be a bad idea to chop off an inch or two. Your older ends must be pretty tethered at this point.

My daughter also had a very bad experience with Feria (Ronald McDonald red). The pros are the ONLY way to go. You will save yourself money in the long run.

Sophie, I heard of the Feria scare. It has something to do with the chemical make-up of it, doesn't it?

I'm not sure Lili. I haven't had any first hand experience correcting it, But some of the things I've heard from other stylists are ...Hard to remove, especially in the dark colors, something about the chemical make up?? It just won't let of the hair even with the sulfur based color removers???
i remember last summer i dyed my hair with their chocolate cherry color. Talk about a nightmare, my hair was like a blackish/purplish color, i was furious. I have to admit, that it did fade pretty quick, but i never will dye my hair that dark again!
Or, If you do want to go darker...Deposit only color...use a semi or demi-permanant color. Like Natural Instincts.....No Ammonia...No 20 volume h2o2.
This is key!!!! Because you don't need those two chemicals in order to go darker....But, most of all you don't need to BLOW the cuticle layer of your hair wide open in order to simply deposit color.
