Hey wassup, don`t be afraid to email me if you want. I just would like to know how to keep and nice and healty looking afro. No plans to do anything with it, just to have big fluffy hair. Like how to take care of it, how often to wash it etc. Please Help.
Sup S I personally don`t have an afro but, I learned from my mom, to braid your hair at night and pick it out in the morning so that it doesn`t look matted. Also, getting cornrows would help your hair to grow faster because your doing nothing to it. As far as washing, it depends on your hair texture. I only wash my once a week because too much washing dries it out. Hope this helps!!
Well my hair is actually relaxed now, but two years ago my hair was natural. As my hair was growing I still slept with a silk scarf on my head. This also prevented it from looking matted. I have heard that it is not good for black people to wash their hair everyday, but I admit I did it and I didn`t have any breakage. I used pantene with the red lable ( I think that is the one for dry hair), along with their conditioner. That made the hair more manageable. Also, when the hair was growing out I started going to the beauty salon ( as opposed to the barber shop) for cutting. They used Dudley CRD? (Can`t remember the exact name). This is a Deep condtioner. I hope this is useful to you.

My hair is natural right now and I do all kinds of things to it. It is about 3 to 4 inches. I 2-strand twist it, coil it, and I have cornrowed it. I prefer the "FREE" look with the bush and kinks and curls b/c it looks best with my oblong face shape.
I care for my hair by using several products like Aloe Vera gel, Aveda`s humectant pomade and shine spray. I also use Carol`s Daughter healthy hair butter to do my own twists. My natural hairstylist uses Nature`s Blessing on my hair along w/ aloe vera juice w/ essential oil for fragrance. I have been with her for 6 months and my hair just sprouted.
I shampoo about every 2 days and condition every time I shampoo or when I dampen my hair to style it. I also use Paul Mitchell`s shampoo, mousse and Foaming Pomade. It is the best!
