I`m thinking about locking my hair for various reasons...the most important being that I`m tired of poisoning my hair every 6 - 8 weeks resulting in scalp burns for the sake of societal acceptance.

My hair now is shoulder length and relaxed. My main question do I need to cut my hair to start locking or is there an alternate method. I don`t mind cutting if it`s necessary, but I won`t if I don`t have to sacrifice the length.

Good for you!

I think if you get sisterlocs you don`t have to cut out the perm. i`m not sure though, do a little research.

When i loc`d i had to cut what little hair i had because it was fried ,dyed and destroyed!!!! so i just cut it off and started from scratch.
